You need to restart after you remove the gfx drivers, then again after you reinstall them, then agian after you installed DX.

There are at least three reboots to ensure the system is clean. Pain in the arse I know, and quite often if you haven't done this every time you upgraded or changed your gfx drivers, there'll always be some long term issues - I've had to wipe a system once or twice in the past cos of this.

ok, so i did what you said, same ting, no change..checked dxdiag again and found this: Several Files (ddraw.dll, d3d8.dll, d3dim700.dll) is old versions and can couse trubble. please reinstall DirectX to get latest version.

now, first off, this is right after i installed directx9 (several times) even the one phil posted in requiels thread..and is there a way i can completely uninstall it and then reinstall it? its so F*cking irritating ;<

direct x 9 cant be uninstalled for somereason and downgraded. that suxx big time.

ill just say what i would do in this case.

id format windows(got windows on a seprate disc from other stuff). then install evrything again.

i wouldnt install the latest gfx drivers becouse i heard theres a problem running daoc. both nvidia and ati drivers. get the ones that where out before, or use the ones that worked.
dont install eny directx other than the newest directx 9c. that will guarantee(SP!!!) that you have the latest of evrything on it.

dunno if this helps, becouse i read that you formated allredy.

aye, allso though that, but it seems like directx 8.1 follows win XP, so the "old" files must be from there :(

For me a corrupted user.dat gave me the "Render creation failed"-error after a crash once. I deleted it and the game created a new one during the next launch. Everything worked fine again after that.
I had to redo keybindings and graphics settings thou.

Is it working now? If not...try ...

Check your bios and see if Fastwrite is enable or disabled. Whichever it is, swap it to the opposite. Also if there's an option in your Properties > Advanced section for fastwrite, swap that off too,. Might have to reboot there.
