New to Mid (Savage)

Heya Im brand new to mid excal and am starting a savage.

These are the specs I am considering. 2h 44 Axe 49 Savagery. Or 2h 50 Sword and 42 Savagery (will get all bar the last chants).

Any advice is welcomed.

I would go for 50 in the axe/sword or whatever... max damage + last style in the line because a little more savagery ain't gonna do miracles...

I'd probably go 50 Axe, 42 Savagery, rest parry...
Very nice frontal based chain style ending with massive dmg from your 50 spec style.

Also, 50 Sword would probably mean you'd be using your extremely end draining style Polar Rift a lot... And when using your haste buff that probably means an empty end bar in a matter of seconds.
I think the axe styles are a bit more end conserving.

But I'm not an expert. So don't base your final spec on anything I say.

The general advice I have is 50 axe, 39 savagery and 18 parry. (with no points left over)

Tho I am thinking of going h2h now, the procs look pretty funky and haven't heard many complaints from advisor savages.

Oh deary me what to do.

H2h till 20
Respec to axe/sword till 40

then decide which one you prefered?

I'd say the other way around, hth only starts to get good at 21 when you get the evade-opener style.

Ive just hit 18 on my savage (moved to mid from alb) - and i went 2-h axe - and by hell it sucks ass, deffo respeccing to h2h at 20

if you think 2h savage sucks on lower lvl I think you delete your savage if you respec at 20

Ive started out as h2h and tbh it isn't that bad at all. Just thought it would be fun to level as h2h.

I had a friar once who used slow hard hitting weapons when you got a bad miss rate you were in serious trouble, thats why in general I prefer faster weapons, a few misses won't hurt your overall performance.

And everyone has been very nice on mid so far <bows>

basicly because your opener uses so much end, (pillager) and for not that much dmg... + h2h has a nice back style that u can get off a few times because of a 4 sec stun on it - and at 21 the h2h evade chain looks good - while axe lacks any evade chain at all (and u evade a LOT as a savage post 20 imo , evade III working with a 9% evade buff + dex/qui buffs = nice evading)

also to gain anything out of 2-h you need the haste, because otherwise you're just doing the same gimped damage at really slow speeds - i can only see 2-h being a good spec post 40 when you have a decent speed haste.

plus h2h has some coolish procs, and a chance (slim as it may be at level ~21) to do a triple hit.

IMO 2-h to 20 is good - but it's hell from 15->20 because the styles eat way too much end and produce shitty damage. Also it's completly str based (h2h is str/dex) so don't even think about it if you went for a kobbie - from 21 on , with high-savage evading, h2h looks the better option for pve.

with axe, don't bother with pillager/punderer/raider unless u like raiders bleed ability

Use havoc+tyr, front stlye that does alot of dmg (i only have havoc on my thane, with a end buff i do 200+ on a yellow).

use evernight, the back stlye if u can't get havoc in.

Go for 50sword, 42savagery. Im 50axe, 43savagery (yeah,specced one pts too much by mistake ) and it works out well. Though, the Havoc is low-to-hit and thats why i dont like it. And, you usually end up hitting once, chasing and using backstyle - Where mistur 50 sword-style fits like a glove.
