I've recently flogged a load of old computer parts off ebay and i've been looking to buy some new components to build myself a halfway decent gaming rig and relegate my current machine to a media server sitting wirelessly in a cold corner somewhere.
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3500BPBOX)
Asus A8N-SLi SE nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5 (GE1GB3200BHDC)
Bundled for £233.85
Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) £109.95
Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU £46.95

I already have 2x 250gb sata drives and a case and various media drives (although i might just buy a new dvd writer as they are dirt cheap now.

Any suggestions or changes that people think. I'm aiming for between 450 and 500 quid and this comes in at about 460 after vat.

A better gfx card will go a long way to making that system last a lot longer.

yeah, but i'm quite constrained by what i can afford hence having to go for the 7600 GT which on paper looks like a pretty good card. I just can't afford more than 130 odd for a gfx.

I was thinking about that, although it's a bundle deal at overclockers, so works out pretty good value, although i've just redone my selection and come up with the following.

CA-007-TG Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG)
£46.95 £46.95
CP-147-AM AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-147-AM)
£83.95 £83.95
MB-000-BG BFG RNF4U nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-000-BG)
£59.95 £59.95
MY-061-CS Corsair 1GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 Kit (2x512MB) (VS1GBKIT400C3) (MY-061-CS)
£49.95 £49.95
GX-076-XF XFX GeForce 7900 GT Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT71G-UDER/UCE7/UCER) (GX-076-XF)

as for the website, i know, i've paid for hosting, but i'm being held to ransom by my previous hosting company who want nearly 200 quid to release the domain... bastards

that seems a lot betterd deal as it allows you to get a better grfx card. I can't see any problems with that but there's probably someone who knows a bit more than me :)
