New Player, needs a bit of advice

Just purchased Factions to see if its any good. Anybody recommend a good char to start with? Played Casters and tanks mainly before in other games.

Also is it still worth buying the original game for that content?

Rolled a Warrior and Ranger. Should make 20 on the ranger in a couple of days lvl 13 now. Yet to find a guild, any European based ones that people can recommend?
