Hey folks, in the coming months i'm looking to buy a new PC (build it myself)

Problem is im not that good or upto date with the best parts for my money.

In total i have a budget of around £1000 give or take £100 on either side.

It would be a pc for gaming and being able to do multimedia for college websites and effects for movies etc (being able to render shit).

I already have mouse keyboard and dvd writer, and a new case.

If someone could take the time to build a comp to fit my budget, i'd appreciate it alot, if not nm and i'll work one out eventually. Preferably dual core amd am2 or something :)

thanks in advance

Jono

Currently Conroe is fotm as it outperforms the AM2 processors, but there are AMD bargains to be had as a result. I tend to ask here for advice but the spec below will give you an idea of what you could get for your money - not saying it's the best you could do, but it'll give you some idea

CP-128-IN Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN) 1
£214.95 £214.95
MB-020-DF DFI Infinity 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-020-DF) 1
£129.95 £129.95
GX-112-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-112-SP) 1
£219.95 £219.95
HD-046-WD Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB 2500KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-046-WD) 2
£46.55 £93.10
CA-001-SS Seasonic S12 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-001-SS) 1
£64.95 £64.95
MY-013-GS G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS) 1
£147.95 £147.95
Subtotal £870.85
VAT £152.40
Total £1,023.25

Could throw in a sound card if you felt like it, oh and an aftermarket CPU cooler wouldn't be a bad idea :)
