I went into a workshop recently to get two sheets of aluminium cut. They wouldn't do it as the swarf would contaminate the swarf they use, and that gets recycled, and they would lose money

For 2 valve amplifier cases which I'm making. They said that their swarf had a certain metal purity rating, and my cheapo bits of metal weren't good enough to pollute their swarf It wasn't a brush off either, since I'd been working there all day on a job and they'd been really good to work with.
