It's just a cinematic to give some flavour (and sell it to a publisher) I think; although a mechwarrior on a modern graphics engine should be pretty nice to look at. I also like the emphasis they are putting on information warfare and lance composition, should be fun to play online as well.

If you were a fan of the x-wing games, they are lot like that but in mechs.

I liked all the MW games ( got all games+all expansions/clanpaks ) but best in genre goes to Starsiege imo.

The plot was actually more engaging than MWs spoiled child of xxx family forced to reclaim throneeeeeomg.

Although the Atlas in the trailer did make me pee a little.

Lol.

Apparently the game dev company have got a cease and desist from Harmony Gold claiming copyright infringement, ( Harmony Gold owns rights to the Robotech series ), they feel that some of the mechs too closely resemble some veritechs or something? ( specifically something in the trailer ).

I'm trying to figure out which units they think are "stolen" ( obv not atlas ).

Mech's from Battletech look nothing like Robotech fighters????????

I am a huge fan of both universes and Robotech mechs are smaller and can change into planes etc, with Battletech mechs are walking huge tanks with loads of weapons that pour destruction on everything.

Found this:
FASA, the company that produced BattleTech, sued Playmates for trademark infringement for using several mecha designs that FASA developed for their BattleTech game for their Exosquad toyline. The resulting counter suit from Playmates targeted mecha images taken from Macross and other anime series used in Battletech. The related lawsuits were settled and later products of BattleTech do not use the designs, henceforth known as the "unseen", under contention. In the Japanese edition of BattleTech, all of these designs were redesigned by Studio Nue, creator of Macross. On 24 June 2009, Catalyst Game Labs, the current license holders, announced that they had secured the rights to the "unseen" pictures; as a result, art depicting the original 'Mechs (which have been called the "bedrock" of BattleTech) can be used again. An update On 11 Aug. 2009 has placed the unseen restriction on several designs once again. This update affects only the designs whose images originated from Macross/Robotech. Designs from other anime remain unaffected by this new change.

MS have finally cleared the free release, MekTek will probably be released.

With all the upgrades they are doing to the old MW4 (including widescreen support), I think I may buy a X52 HOTAs with rudders. Should work nicely with new monitor setup I have!
