So I got my new laptop but I think there is an issue with the screen.

Basically from the left side there appears to be some dark patches that I want to say bleed out. On a white screen it's very visible but only then. Dell say from the pictures the can not see a fault.

Is this to be expected as a guy in work believes led screen do this. Does anyone know what it's called? And is there a better way to get a picture to show Dell.

Try holding the camera closer? It's impossible to see what you're on about :(

can't see the issue in your pic but if there's a visual abnormality then get an exchange, sale of goods act etc. threaten them with trading standards if they don't wise up.

Yeah the picture thing is a pain in the arse, I tried about 20 different cameras and dell could not see it. The guys in work struggled to see it, my eyes must just be sensitive so I will run with it for now I have a year to get it swapped if it gets worse. For now I can only see it with a white screen so its not too bad. Like a scratch on your TV once you see it you can't not see it.

just tell them that you're unable to document the problem appropriately with the equipment you have available... they can't exactly expect you to have a £5k digital slr with appropriate lenses and filters. tell them you want to return the laptop for a repair or replacement, end of. they should courier the laptop from you and back again at their cost. failing that, an engineer visit may be appropriate.
