It has a 256gb ssd so you can actually put some games on the ssd.
It has a g-sync monitor.
GTX 1060.
16gb of ram.

Worth it over both the laptops you linked imo.

I guess there's a newer version w/ the skylake cpu, but for the money he's spending I'd get that level of spec because dropping on any of the points I mentioned will compromise the build ( imo ) and he doesn't really have to compromise for that price.

Canny good laptops, maybe wait for the new AMD CPU'S to start appearing in laptops more frequently, though? may get a really really good deal.
