Guys

I am thinking of getting a laptop and need some recommendations.

I want to use it for surfing the net, putting tunes on, watching some DVD's on & playing games on.

Now, I only play these games:-

TF2
Dods
CSS
WoW

So it doesnt need to be uber powerful

So, what do you guys reccomend? The cheaper the better on the old pocket of course Approx £350 would be nice :)

You want a laptop that plays games from £350? You better re-think that budget and start saving. Also, use Laptop Computers | Buy cheap laptops from Laptops Direct they have the largest selection, and keep up to date, their pricing is aggressive to clear older models. I did not find anyone that could beat their pricing when I looked for a lappy this week.

I'd say for gaming laptops look at Acer ones.

Acer are cheap for a reason, their support is grade A shite, they are about the worst I have ever dealt with, I would never buy anyrhing they make for this reason.

However if you are prepared to take the gamble that nothing will go wrong with the machine or in the event that something should, are happy to be without it for up to two months, coming back with more faults than it went to them with, shoddy workmanship and many more then price / performance they are hard to beat.

It will be extremely hard to find something for 350 that will run anything decent, your best bet might be to keep an eye on ebay for something used, there are some good deals to be had

Lots of people with acer lappies on a recent thread in OT disagree with you Ramathorn.

Well I can only guess they havent had the joy of dealing with Acer support before. I did it for over three years and it was a complete disaster. I am not sure if they still do it but for a period of time they didnt replace PCB's, the boards were taken out in their repair centre and shipped to another location to be repaired, then returned and the same board fitted. It took weeks rather than days.

Heres a quick google found survey on it:

ACER support nightmare review

There are a million horror stories out there, I myself was victim of it, just giving a warning, nothing else. I was always told when buying any computer the three most common things people are looking for are: cheapness / reliability / speed - but its impossible to have all three.
