The folks over at Hexus.net have an interesting little article currently:

HEXUS.net - Headline :: NVIDIA rolls out GeForce 9500 GT and GeForce 9800 GT : Page - 1/1

The crux is, there's a Geforce 9800GT coming, basically a rebadged 8800GT with Hybrid SLI capability, nothing really else - but an interesting price tag of a mere £80! That's going to be a fair bang for the buck and makes me wonder then how the similarly performing 9600GT's will end up pricewise. They could well be a nice £60 cheapy...

I would have thought they'd be die-shrinking the GTX200 ASAP, to stop them hemorrhaging cash!

The 9800GT is going to have to be very cheap to compete. Makes you wonder if they will withdraw the old 9800GTX.

It just seems very very cheap - the 8800GT on release was £180 to £200, and that for a mid range yet still juicy card was very reasonable. £80? I know it's the same card basically but they do seem rather desperate. Lot of competition from ATI now but still, they'll be better off getting some more performance out.

Right, BUT, the 8800GT was only that price due to the supply vs demand.

It was intended to be a sub-$200 part, and would have been if not for people being willing to pay far more.

A year later 80 quid probably isnt far off. Still a good deal, but nothing overly surprising.

The new 9000 card seems pretty much like huge failures because they are at the same pricerange as the HD4850, which dominates them :/
