The motherboard should be fine, it's got PCIex 2.0 slots, which is pretty much the only requirement (well, it'd probably work with PCIex 1.0, just maybe a bit slower). As long as you've got the slot for it, the PSU is the only other worry. Yours is a little bit overkill in that respect, so all should be fine with it.

Ok i'm still running a 3870x2 and i only play MMO's on my PC DAOC/Rift and i want to play the new Star Wars MMO i'm just wondering is it time to upgrade it or can i squeeze a couple more years out of this?

I don't buy the latest shooters etc on the PC anymore ive seen http://www.ebuyer.com/product/247429 and just wondering is it worth it?

From the looks of the minimum requirements for Star Wars i should be fine even with the 3870x2 to run the game on medium/high.

I'd guess you'd be OK with the current card. The main advantage of going from the 3000 to the 6000 series is the jump from direct x 10 to 11. I'm not sure if Old Republic will use any dx11 features, but if it does I'm sure it'll still look just fine without them. Probably the best bet is to wait until it's out, or at least see if you can get into some form of beta if they run one, then you can see how it runs. If it does struggle, you can always pick up the graphics card later. Might even have dropped a bit in price by then, if you're lucky.

Your current rig should run OR just fine, it doesnt look any more demanding than Warhammer online was.

The 6 pin connectors that the graphics card needs will come from the PSU. If you don't have any 6 pin connectors built in, you normally get at least one molex to 6 pin adaptor in the box with the card, and you can probably pick another up cheap at somewhere like maplins.

He should be fine. The 3870 uses 1x6 pin connector. Aada mentioned he is running 3870x2.

Aada might be worth opening the case to double check you have two of these.

My card (5870) needed a 6 pin and an 8 pin. My PSU had 2 sixes and a little extra 2 that clipped onto the side of 1 of them to make it an 8, but yours might not. Worth considering.

Opened up the case but can't see what the PSU has because the connections aren't visible.
