Okay installed the 12.41 dets, first i did some benchmarking with my 7.58's for comparison.

oh yeah geforce 2 gts 32mg and p3 600.

3dmark2001 with det 7.58's 2098 3dmarks.

tribes 2 fps 45 to 70 on first training mission.

32mark2001 with det 12.41 2258 3dmarks.

tribes 2 fps 45-70 on first training mission.

Have not had any compatibility probs yet, works fine with CS and ahl as well.

Looks like these drivers are quite good, just got to wait for some indepth benchmarks with q3 time demo and stuff.

Wij its easy, change your driver to standard VGA, reboot.

Delte old det drivers with uninstall utility, then remove the actual files if they are left behind.

Install new drivers.

I have done this succesfully 3 times last month.

I understand thought, first time i changed my dets i fucked it up, did not have to rebuild sys though, just delted all the det fiels and started again.

I have gone from 900 3d marks (2001) to 1300 and OpenGL is even better (don't have a benchmark for opengl but i can see the difference)

Also, i have got to do benchmark again, because when i was getting 9003dmarks i was running the gfx card at 198core/205mem, when i did the benchmarks on the 12.41 i only had 175core/183mem.

I will post back when i can be arsed to benchmark again.

It seems to be a godsend for me, i am not sure why i have been blessed with such a speed boost but i have never seen such a change in qualtiy and speed from a driver upgrade.

I had have trouble installing it, I uninstaled the the 7.58's i had on in the first place and went to install them. It came as an exe and i am used to doing a manual install. Opend it and it seemed to go ok, rebooted and it hadn't loaded the drivers. It refused to install the drivers even though it said it had. In the end I guessed it must have put the drivers in a temp folder so I scanned my temporary files and bingo, then did a manual install.

I never use the exe version, u get problems, much easier to unzip all the relevent files and then let winodws detect the hardware and point it to the files -this also stops mixed drivers as you direct windows to the files yourself.

Didn't know there was a zipped version avail, got it from nvidia webby.

There are two versions on the nvidia webby, self extracting zip (smaller file) and self installing (bigger file).

Isn't 3dmark2001 all about how well yer card does dx8 ? Since no (real) games use dx8 it's pretty irrelevant. Does 12.41 gain you anything in 3dmark2000 ?

Umm, Tribes2 needs DirectX8, last time i saw it was the 2nd most played online game on the gamespy stats.
