I was calm until i heard this from smurflord...

Dont forget GOA's top priority is the development of their own mmorpg, called Ryzom. The game world consists of a single tree, and people play pixies and bugs and other such crap. Really seems like they are trying to ditching being a licencee for other people's games and develop their own. To be honest, it seems like some mad marketing person has decided to try and target the under 10 market, which is crazy as they have no money.

Once they've got this finished and launched, I suspect they'll wind down their DAOC support and maintainence. They wont cancel it as they will have a contract with Mythic for a set period of time, but they'll just leave it to rot. Much like Blizzard have done with Diablo 2 these days, as their focus moves on to other products.

Great, so we are GOAs bit on the side. Mythic should remove their franchise from GOA and find someone a little bit more fucking capable imo. BTW that last paragraph really makes me depressed reading it

its a depressing thought, but realistically, GOA only makes a commision per person that they host on daoc, with a game of their own, they make 100% of the money for themselves.

Kinda a big slap in the face if u ask me, make us pay more money for a better service (which we never really got), then, if there is any truth in this story, use our money to pay for the downfall of our own game.

Can only compare it to asking a friend for £100 then using the money to hire a hitman to kill him

another way to look at it is, they are charging us more money to make better profits, so they can develop their own MMORPG which it self takes their time up and draws them away from doac support.

the ryzom thing is about as relevant as saying goa make money from telephone calls (since they're owned by france telecom) or indeed mobile text messages (since Orange are also owned by FT)

they are separate teams - I take it you're the sort who'll complain on VN that thanes/savages* haven't been bumped/nerfed* yet because mythic are too busy working on Imperator.

Has anyone actually had a look at this game?
Just had a quick scan through, different races and different claases depend on what race you go.

Looking at the fighter classes.
All of them use typical fantasy type weaponry. Swords, spears, bows, shields etc

Exept for one, quote from web site :-

their crafters have been producing huge quantities of grenades and rockets. Flame-throwers aren't content just to hurl their grenades: they have developed techniques to deal with every situation. Large-scale grenade launches enable them to carpet-bomb a vast area with grenades in no time at all.

Flame Throwers, grenades and rockets > swords

So i buy this game (still havnt had a chance to play it) and i hear that the european servers are going down the drain and that soon DoaC wont be playable any more
