that's quite a cool design actually. I hope the other side is a bit more sane, though.

well yes, but on the flip side i want to remain British , not a European, from the English state, so im all in favour of the EU fucking off out of our identity ;)

The euro may be almost as strong as the pound, but it still isnt the pound.... nor is it as strong as the pound, its only almost as strong.

Also the euro looks like play money... which is the key point.
The dollar however is weak and looks like cabbage.

Hi guys

I like the designs; they look nice and modern individually, and the appearance when arranged together is effective:

In Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan they're slowly moving toward cashless systems for public transport, small transactions, and sometimes even as house/office keys (London's Oyster card also uses a similar technology). I know some people who gauge their spending by how much money they have their purse/wallet, so I guess they wouldn't appreciate just seeing numbers. Anyway, that said, it will still be many years until notes and coins are gone.

Kind regards

Ah, those were the days ... *wistful* :D

Kind regards

well ive seen them in museums and stuff.

obviously their minting techniques were inferior, and the coins usually just ended up with 3/4 of a picture on the back or something.

like these ones.

Ah! That's why they've just doubled the cost of bus travel!

It'll become so expensive that everyone'll have to pay on their credit cards...

Anyway. New coins

But I'm with Dukat on the Euro. It's pish. :)

Seems a little odd to have a design split over all the coins instead of each coin having a fairly unique design.

I'm sure we'll all get used to them, I'd guess that people are attached to the existing ones as they've been the same for so long.

Its because the designer was a lazy bastard

at least the shape of coins are staying the same! you don't need to worry too much about what's printed on them... truthfully now who actually looks at what's on the coin? I just rely on size and shape to know what I have in my hand.

I really like them they are designed as the set so people buy them for £10 like all royal mint sets :)
