New antivirus time

Norton can suck my boaby as far as i'm concerned.

Serious bucks to renew this super bloated, resource hogging, takes ages to load pile of shite; plus it never picked up on certain virii.

Simply, can someone recommend a good, reasonably priced, lite on resource, quick to load virus protection program.

I've got a feeling most will scream AVG... ?

I used AVG and it missed stuff that Norton picked up, so I'm a little wary of it.

NOD32 is very impressive, but AVG is free and also great. I'm not convinced NOD32 is better by enough of a margin to warrant the purchase. You'll do well with either one though.

Nod32 for me.

Picked up loads of stuff that norton missed when ive put it on other peoples PC. AV definitions update multiple times a day at times plus its small and light on resources and overheads.

Well I dunno much about virii, but I do know that Nod32 is miniscule, and sits there quietly doing its job without fucking great big flashing graphics and sound. Which is what ya want really. Norton took up more memory than Windows, which is why I changed to Nod32, and its not that expensive when you consider what it's potentially saving you from.

Running AVG just now, what a fucking godsend compared to Norton's AV in terms of resource use. My PC doesn't take a day and a fucking age to boot now, it doesn't have 3/4 things sitting eating memory with about 3 icons in the systray.

Not sure how good AVG is compared to Norton's at doing what it's suppose to do, but for "free" it can't be that bad a proggy. If I have probs with AVG I shall check out this nod32.

I use AVG as it's free and gets updates.

If I bought one it would be Kaspersky, you can always trust a Russian when it comes to virii.

I used Kaspersky - was great.

Now on AVG - "seems" to be ok (but how can u tell?)

I would go for McAfee. Norton is deffo shite.

Once used McAfee and AVG at the same time. A bit silly I know. Well anyway I happened to have a virus on my PC and McAfee found it and AVG didnt.

So no more AVG for me thanks.

Based on Deebs' recommendation I installed Nod32 at work and am very impressed with it. A nice small resource footprint, several updates a day and as far as I can tell it is pretty good at detecting viruses.

At home I use Avast because it's free. Doesn't seem bad but more of a system resource hog than Nod32 (nowhere close to Norton though) and i'm impressed enough by Nod32 to consider splashing out for it at home.

Btw Deebs uses Nod32 at home and wishes he could use it at work but he can't.

I'm not surprised they're using someone else's software, seeing as their own effort didn't deserve any certification at all (page 8).

I use AVG, always have done and never had any problems tbh, also use Spybot and AdAware on occasion - anything thats free = good.

Did have Norton once - got it free with a laptop - bag of poop it was and de-installed it after a couple of weeks and went back to AVG.
