Of course all of this is personal tastes and no one is right or wrong.

I agree with half of this post and despite being annoyed at the bird's nexus 9 being stuck in a 5.0.2 bootloop I've decided to give you an agree rather than a FOAD

Jack is nasty stuff - but then it is whiskey, so not surprising you have to add Coke to it for it to be half drinkable.

Whisky on the other hand, is lovely stuff and only needs ice at most in order to release the aromas and flavours.

I am probably the worst kind of drinker from a health perspective. I probably drank 6 times last year but each time it would be classed as binge drinking. I do not imagine it does anything for your health. If I am anything like the older guys in my family I will grow into drinking Wine. My Dad never touched the stuff till his 50's all he drank was Ale. Now he drinks Wine and has an impressive Whisky collection. He passes around 20 and 30 year old malts when we have people over and I don't bother because on its own it does not taste nice to me. Most Beers and Ale taste like piss to me too. I think it is why I have no trouble going out and not drinking. I can drink Diet Coke all night and not feel like I am missing out.

I don't really drink anymore, simply because I have taken a dislike to it, I just don't enjoy drinking, but even when I did I never drank beer/lager as I found it too bitter, and I too have never liked any type of wine, be it red, white or the fizzy stuff. They all burn my throat as they go down, as do all neat spirits.

I recently had some of the Stella 'Cidre' which I liked, but I could only drink one bottle before I felt i'd had enough. I wasn't pissed, just felt a bit rough

In my youth the only drink I did like (sorry @Trem ) was JD & Coke, I could drink it till the cows came home, and I never really got that drunk or got bad hangovers, because that's all I drank, I didn't mix it up at all with other drinks, simply because I didn't like anything else

I hear ya, have also gotten to a point where i never really drink alcohol, new years and midsummer excluded. Can't enjoy food properly when drinking any sort of alcohol. Sticking purely to 3.5% beer when on very rare occasions going out on town.

I don't mind a glass of wine with food. Pair the right wine with the right food and it's great, it really makes a huge difference. For me wine is not a drink you just pour up and sit down and watch TV with, I want mine with good food or in case of desert a nice dark chocolate or some crackers and cheese.
As a sit down and have a drink I do like JD & Coke, but my prefered drink of choice is Gin & Ginger ale, Bombay sapphire for everyday slugging it down and Tanqueray #10 for special occasions.

I invite anyone to take a look at a ward in any hospital that specialises in alcohol-related problems. Look at all the young people with yellow skin and ask yourself if the government's advice is silly.

Or you could just go to a city hospital on a Friday night. I've seen both, it isn't pretty. In fact it's downright depressing.

same can be said of sugar/ fast food and type II diabetes. All very depressing seeing people having feet or lower legs amputated because they were too stupid to realise eating garbage is not good for you.

After drink they will target sugar and fast food for sure. The nanny state lives on...

I only drink to get pissed, none in the house,, don't drink beer, tastes awful to me, probably had less than ten pints my whole life.
If I do drink one glass of wine I-m up all night, but I can drink spirits rill it xomes out of my ears and I rarely lose function; slur words a bit, but my balanxe, reasoning and memory is never affected.
I wish the memory was tbh, the night before always rushes back in horrid detail.

Nah the beauty is you drink less, you do not need to keep up I probably drink one in three rounds. Also as Designated Dave I don't pay
