Hi

I need a new monitor so I've been looking on some 19" monitors and I noticed
there is some widescreen monitors with the resulution 1440x900.
1440x900 seams neat, but is it any good for gaming etc?
Anyone have any experince of both perhaps?

I never understood peoples urge to get widescreen monitors tbh. They´re good if you´re watching movies a lot, but then, I´d prefer to watch movies on a widescreen TV.
There are a couple of people in my office who´re playing on widescreen laptops and they´re all struggling getting vertain games to run properly (i.e. not distorted).
So my best hint would be: do you watch movies on your computer and if not, then what would you use the widescreen for?

Thx for reply Thor

The most important is that games works good. Movies are secondary.

I bought this monitor a few weeks ago, i just love it. I play DAOC in 1280x1024. The inbuilt speakers are even good.

Although this does not come with a dvi m2f cable i purchased one from Belkin and man the quality improved so much!

I'd recommend this to anyone :)

I just got a Dell 20" TFT, runs at 1680x1050, and it owns; but if I was going 19" I'd definitely have gone for a non-widescreen 1280x1024 one.

www.tftcentral.co.uk is a good site for TFTreviews + info.

My gfx card is a shitty 6600 :( upgrading within this week to my new setup with a 7600 GT (going to wait for dx10 cards next year before getting an expensive card)

depends on your graphics card really ;)

Not only GFX-card. It has to do with if games support this kind of ratio/resulotion.
I.e, if i get a 1440 monitor and its not supported I might get unused
areas of the screen or even a bad height/width if forced to fill a full screen.
