NWN 1 was the best game I ever played to be honest.

Graphics weren't good, so what?

The story was just simply amazing.

And if you're calling a game crap after not even finishing the tutorial...

I mean, the story starts after the tutorial, and the story is enough to continue the game in itself.

I can't wait til it launches here in Norway, I'm going to get it.

The game might've been nice if the graphics wasn't so un-appealing. Baldur's Gate 1+2 were really good games, even with the crap gfc. No matter if the resolution was bad, but it was lovely to watch. NWN was simply boring to watch and the small text boxes were totally annoying. If NWN 2 is the same, it's gonna be the same crap to me. Personally I'm waiting for a Baldur's Gate 3 with a revival of the old engine with maybe a bit better looks, but I'm not asking for much as long as I get a giant amount of text, hundreds of side quests and a world where I can go right where I want =)

out tomorrow in the UK getting tired of the only out on a Friday crap :( so been playing dark messiah :)

A little tip: if you order from gameplay.com with first class post they usually ship on Wed so you get the game on Thurs - I had Dark Messiah a day early. With NWN2 they actually shipped it Tues so I've had it for a few days.

I was really really looking forward to it but I've not even completed the tutorial partly because I'm hooked on Guild Wars Nightfall but mostly because I find the interface less than intuitive, the characters ugly and the voices for characters are exactly the same as the first game! The manual is pathetic unless you want to print out the 81 page pdf file they put on disk so its hard to know what character make etc.

All that said I expect it to be a really strong story line the 15 minutes of the tutorial I played so far already indicate that but I need some longer sessions to get used to the 'clunkiness' of the interface.

I went and bought it today. :)

I love it so far.. graphics are 100 times better than NWN 1 and they have really made the game much more true to D&D rules as well. So far the storyline looks promising too. :)

The few bad things i've found include that it's sometimes hard to get an overview of the landscape around you... it's easy to miss lootable containers and such (but that might just be that one isn't used to it). The second pet peeve of mine is that when you save a game, you have to retype the savegame name every time, even if you just overwrite an old save. Annoying! Also, i can't find a way to put spontaneous spells (like cleric spontaneous cure spells) in the quickbar.. they seem to only exist in the "quickcast" menu, which i don't like to keep open when running around. If anyone can figure that one out, please let me know.

Anyway.. time to get back into the adventure. I have some ruins to explore! :)

I really hate the way the camera angles etc. work in NWN1.

Is it improved?

Considering buying this soon...

Has anyone bought it yet? I'm trying to decide if its worth the £25 :)

Yes and yes. It's a significant improvement on the original and so far has proved to be very entertaining and frustrating in equal measure - which is the mark of a good RPG imho.

Graphics are improved on the original but don't expect uber shiney, they're still ugly as hell on the old facial features :)

Have had a nice couple of surprises so far and the game's intro tutorial is a nice touch which can be skipped on subsequent replays without you losing any benefits from completing it.

Overall enjoying it. Am also playing Sid Meier's Railroads, which is the new updated version of the original Railroad Tycoon. For anyone who likes those sort of strat games I can heartily recommend it, it's ace.

Also pretty much agree with what Levin's said here. With regard to the camera angles, they'd be fine if you could lock the damn camera in position. That's about the most irritating thing I've had so far.

fantastic game but i think they released it a week or 2 early.

atm cant put 2 weapons on the qbar over each other to duelwield or use as sword n shield, they forgot it.
Frames per second on any high end rig is abysmal, again its the code in the game, not the systems specs. ( for example im on a 6600 core 2 duo, 7950 gt card and 2 GB of DDR2 ram and i cant run it unless its on medium settings and then i get 14 fps inside! I get 80+ on quake 4 and over 200 on world of warcraft, all bells and whistles flashing.) Instaling the new nvidia 93.71 drivers helped alot.
Some people are having issues instaling the CD version ( 7 or 8 CDs btw ) so get the DVD,

Anyhow, loadsa bitching hear about it :p

Having devoted a bit of time to this - thanks to Sundays! - it really is a gem of a rpg.

The party system works out nicely so that you can take as much or as little control of the rest of your party as you like. SO when you find traps and so on you can let the rogue auto detect and disarm or you can switch to the rogue and take control of it. Surrounded by too many wolves, swap to the fighter and hack them to pieces. You can also pause each turn and play it almost in turn based mode.

The dialogue feels like you are making real choices, with real consequences and the fights for me as a cleric main char are just on the right level of difficulty - it's D&D there's always a chance that creature rolls a 20 and chops your head off but for the most part it challenging without too much reloading.

Graphically it looks beautiful with no lag (but I am playing on a very high spec Core Duo system) earlier I was looting a camp fire and the shadow cast by the dwarf in my party over me was really amazing - a level of detail I've not noticed in a game for some time.

Camera angles are ok once you get used to the keyboard shortcuts for changing them around, though it is a bit hard to get the hang of at first.
