The fun of the Stig is not knowing who they are the paper is a bunch of pricks for publishing that. It would not be hard to find out who he really is but you do not really want to know the Stig is a less than brilliant race car driver.

Ben Collins is a top notch Formula 3 driver. He races stock cars and he placed in the Le Mans 24 a couple of times too I think. He's a good driver and a good candidate, but as said above, I would be suprised if there was one stig, it would be more likely and make a lot more sense that companies like Porche or Ferrari would only lend the Beeb those kinds of cars if they could put there own test drivers in to get the absolute best out of their cars on the timed laps.

well it must have some seriousness about it or it would be pointless. If it was not serious why dont they fake a fiat panda time for 1.00. Im not saying its the perfect test, but it gives some indication on how good the car is around the track, and ofc to make it more fair it requries the same driver.

IMO would have to be someone experienced at F1 or similar racing, or someone the car manufacturer chooses, ergo multiple stigs....but then again James May etc drove Veyrons
