Guys,

last night about 22:45 I lost my connection to the internet on my main PC (hardwired to a Netgear DG834GT router)

My wireless connection from the laptop still had connectivity.

Woke up this morning and still no joy from the main PC

Tried different cables - no luck
Tried reinstalling the drivers for the hardware (Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabyte Ethernet controller) inbuilt on a DFI Lanparty motherboard - No luck
Tried a hard reset of the Router - No luck.

Ive confirmed both the cables used work by hardwiring the laptop and switching off the wireless - working.

Anything else I can try before I bite the bullet and buy a LAN card?

Any flashing lights denoting life on either the router or the PC when the wire's plugged in?

does it reply or timeout ?

start>all programs>accessories>communications>network connections
double click NIC, in new pop up box, click properties. in new pop up box, scroll down to internet protocol(tcp-ip) select it and click Properties.

Is it set to automaticaly obtian and IP address ?

YEs and Yes.

Lights flash when cable is plugged into PC - Netgear router also works.

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

both in command prompt

From what you've done, tci-ip in bound to local host (ya nic) and nic is responding localy.

if the above 2 don't work, my next surgestion would be to try another NIC.

Just a thought, No errors on NIC in device manager ? (prob not, but worth the ask :))
