I have a Netgear DGN2000 ADSL2 Router which works reasonably well.

The problem is nearly everyday in the morning it requires a re-boot because it seems to drop the internet connection even though all the lights indicate that everything is fine. I have tried an old adsl router and that seems to keep the connection.

I thought it might be over heating so have raised it so it gets lots of air flow but there is no difference. I have updated the firmware and this has not made any difference.

Anyone know any tweaks I can do to stop this from happening?
It's a bit annoying really.

Failing that can anyone recommend a different ADSL2 Wireless N Router?
Is the Linksys WAG320N any good?

Thanks!

It could be your provider, who are you with? Also are you able to connect up to the router config page when it gets messed up? Who's your provider? If it's Be/O2 try releasing/renewing the IP as that often fixes it.

As to a more permanent solution - you've done a firmware update I assume you did a factory reset in that process? If not give that a go and see if that helps.

Yes its BE. I will try releasing the IP to see if that works.
I will also try and do the factory reset process...

From memory I don't think I can access the router config page when this happens which makes me think it's the router rather than anything else...

Dys, this is interesting.

I started having problems with my Netgear router (not the same one as yours though) with O2 (essentially Be) and had to go back to the old router because it kept losing the connection. In an interesting twist, my parents are also on O2 with the same router as me and they are seeing similar dropouts.

I just wonder if there is some Netgear / O2 / Be thing going on here...

Maybe there is...

My connection is fine right through the day and evening though
It's just when I get up in the morning I find the internet has been dropped...it's odd that it happens nearly everyday...

I've had a DGN2000 for a while now and at times I've had some very random dropping off at times, although this may partly be down to using powerline networking between my computer and the router.

At times it seems as if my computer seems to loose the connection to the router, an attempt to fix this and also to stop my DS207 shifting IP sometimes I decided to turn off DHCP and have assigned everything static IPs and so far so good.....although it did make me realise just how much in the house is linked up to it :)
