i've just switched from xp to win7 and very happy with it,
but I have one small issue,

it would seem there is no win7 driver for my wireless net card
or rather it comlains that the driver i not "licensed/cirtified" and thus wont accept it
even if it is a vista64 driver.

the card in question is a marvel Libertas 802.11 g/b wireless lan client fish frog hiphop

any ideas ?
or go fetch a new card that has win7

it may work with a different driver? my USB wifi dongle is such a whore, it works with at least 5 different drivers beside the one it came with.

On a cuiriouse note though,

what exactly would I be looking for ?
just any old 802.11 pci (64bit driver) ?

oh and the manufacure has made a 64bit driver for vista, it just refuses to "work"
due to some licence crap

you can circumvent that iirc. there are some strange settings in UAC or some such. someone here will no doubt be better equipped to tell you about that stuff.

For 64 bit you need signed drivers. WHQL (iirc) drivers. These are drivers with a digital signiture that has been tested to work with microsoft products. Run about $250 per OS. Most places will aviod them if posible for older hardware as they are no longer making money from the sales of these devices they will aviod putting money into driver signing for them.

A few ways to aviod this.
One way is to press F8 on each and every bootup and select Disable driver signature enforcement. This can be a pain as it will have to be done every boot.

Another way to aviod it on 7 64bit is to put the system into "test mode" useing "driver signature enforcement override". xxx.ngohq.com* on the right hand side in Our Software.

Also you can try find WHQL drivers to suit your card. try using device manager to install the drivers instead of the setup program. You can grab a few sets of drivers for marvell cards, pop them in a folder and see if windows picks one up as one for your card. Bit trial and error but will, with time and effort, often yield better results then the other two options.

* I wouldn't recommend this route but its there as an option. Its also the reason i havn't fully linked the website.
