Operating System : WinXP 64bit

[Problem Description]
I have installed 3 SATA hard drives onto this board.
1 into SATA connector 1 , red.( for the operating system)
2 into Marvell SATA connectors at the bottom of the board as a RAID.
These two work fine as a RAID.

I need to check the correct setting in the BIOS for the OS SATA drive!!!
It will only see the drive if I have the BIOS configured to 'Standard IDE'.
Is this correct? Is it working at IDE speed ,or 1.5Gbps or 3Gbps?
Presumably it will work faster if it is set to IHCR.
How do I do this ?
Is it set through the operating system? ( Windows XP64)
Do I need to install additional specific drivers for this SATA connector as well?
I have installed Marvell drivers for the RAID, they work fine
and the OS drive in connector 1 is working at the moment configured to standard IDE mode?

if u know about all of this any help would be much appreciated :D

Thank you.

Suppose "Standard IDE" means non-RAID and you can set drive to IHCR (or is it called CHR?) from BIOS settings (auto/LBA/large/CHR are probably the options). Without knowing your specs I cant be arsed to check it out ;p

Ok, ICHR5 is the SATA-controller you have plugged your OS drive into (= you can't set it on/off) and to get most out of it enable "32-bit data transfer" from BIOS.

Oh, that Marvell-controller is slower than ICH7R you have on that mobo. Read manual pages 58 and 59 :p

Standard Ide = non-RAID -> you dont need drivers. To get most out of it enable "32-bit data transfer" from BIOS if possible.

Marvell RAID = you have made it work but its slower than ICH7R-RAID so you may want to set the RAID on ICH7R.

I dont see the problem but feel free to add me on MSN if you want to.
