My 400gb RAID drives are not far from biting the bullet (in fact one already has, it's just being used as a "crutch" currently) so as a present to myself I think I might be investing in some of these

64mb of cache, 2terabytes of loveliness. Nice. 8tb of juice, mmm nicer still

You're absolutely right - I've got about 500gb for pussys.

That is an amazing drive. What the hell are you going to put on it though? I have about 500 daoc videos and they only take up about 70-80 GB. I suppose if you are storing full length films or something it will soon fill up.

I use a sata hard drive docking station that runs off usb with a 500 GB samsung hard drive innit. Also a usb medialan device with another 300GB drive innit. The docking station is hot pluggable and is a nice bit of kit. Only cost about £20 too if I remember rightly.

That particular jobby is an enterprise level drive, so will be suited to server type thingies.
My collection of VM's used just over 500gb on their own, then the DVD's (legally owned I should add) rack up another 1.2tb. Music is a mere 40gb, and my games installation folder racks up 90gb.
My folder full of "useful installation files and game saves etc" is currently hitting 30gb (and theres nothing naughty or untowards in there!)

So thats just a shade under 2tb if I include normally installed apps and Windows too, plus you always need some leway
