Need help!

Recently built a new pc:-

P4 3ghz
Asus P4C800 motherboard
1024 Crucial PC3200 ram
Radeon 9700 pro grahics card
Win2k

Works fine and installed all the software
Installed all the classic and si clients for daoc - it connected fine to update both clients

Run the SI client

get to the loading screen
then
connecting to service
retrying
retrying
retrying
service not available
Hit Esc

anyone know what the problem might be?

any help would be appreciated!

i can connect to prydwen ok but not to excal

yet my account will connect on my old pc

fixed!

eventually fixed the weird problem

disabled the onboard lan in the bios of the Asus P4C800 motherboard
fitted an old network card
ran game and connected to excal first attempt
enabled onboard lan and disabled the advanced options of the 3com gigabit lan one by one and found the culprit to be something called Hardware Checksumming - switched that off and it connected to the excalibur server

god knows why that would allow me to connect to pryd and not excalibur
