Antec are good yes, but its true that most cpu's that come fitted on the case sucks - delivering uneven power, breaking down, overheating, frying the rest of the components etc. Its a good idea to invest in a nice quality power supply, as surprisingly many comp problems stem from bad quality psu's.

tbh not really doable with sli , been playing had to drop moniter back to crappy one, etc etc , lose to much to gain another graphics card. thats going to have to be my next upgrade though SLI based P4M dothan with 2x 6600's or if dothans stay silly prices will have to go a64 ofc :) . One of main problem with that budget is 2x graphics crads will need a v nice psu so something like Antec true blue 480 or enermax 500 so thats like £70 on a psu where as on non sli you can get away with a nice 350w like the antec with antec case all for £40
heheh the list goes on can always spend more money :) but tbh for £1000 yeah i would spend money as i said , will have nice moniter, v fast pc , nice 5.1 surrond sound , and added bonus of a dvdr ( could not live without mine now) Anyways im not tech expert but know a little so if you need a hand just ask me and i will gladly help :)

If you're buying hardware at the same time (even if it's a 99p mouse) you can get a Win XP OEM - much cheaper than normal:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=66489

Don't worry about putting stuff together - it's virtually impossible to do it wrong. Practise static safety (nekkid skillz etc.) and don't force anything together and you'll be fine. Also it's handy to learn where stuff goes, don't have to pay people £silly to upgrade then.

All the cables and screws you need should come bundled along with the stuff they plug into. And don't forget to buy the little essentials - like a CPU fan/heatsink.

Good luck & enjoy - it's fun!

Despite spending loads on high end sound cards and speakers every time I've bought a pc, I don't think the impact is worth the price. Especially if, like me, you only play DAoC these days. You could always consider motherboards with built in sound chips and if you feel the sound is lacking then buy a soundcard afterwards. This would also further simplify your building.
The pound is good against the dollar so ordering small items from U.S. companies could be an option but always a nightmare if things go wrong. Good luck.

Regards,
Sift.
