need a flash guru...

ok so i'm trying to install flash in IE (yes i know IE is teh sux, and i have firefox as the standard browser).

only problem is that the bloody browser wont actually install the program and its driving me insane.

or rather, it SAYS its installed but i still can't view anything flash related.

is there any obscure setting somewhere i need to enable?

and another thing thats getting on my nerves. PlanetSide

is anyone able to view that site or are they getting the black background and
${footer_contact_text} ${footer_copyright_text} ${footer_privacy_text} ${footer_tos_text}

at the bottom to? i get that both in IE and in FF and i'm wondering if its just me again or something on that site.

their forum isnt worth the time to post in as all their tech mods will say is "install flash", well flash is installed in FF and i still can't view it.

The planetside site works fine for me. That guide Brooky posted is for IE6, is that the version you have, or are you running IE7 ?

Have you tried un-installing flash and re-installing it ?

oh, i'm using IE7, and yeah i've tried to uninstall and reinstall. problem is that this issue persists through complete OS reinstalls so i havent got a clue whats going on :/

friend of minde down the street got the exact same problem with that planetside site to. everything else seems to be working fine exept for one other site thats using flash to show pictures.

ok, uninstall flash,

then remove the activex flash plugin from IE

TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/GENERAL/SETTINGS/VIEW OBJECTS

reboot then goto the Planetside site, it _may_ install flash for you and or the plugin, if it doesnt just goto the www.shockwave.com and it will install from there. But try the planetside site first as their webserver prolly has it on.

well it didnt work. i did get a red X (picture not available) on the Planetside site that supposedly would have contained the "get flash" picture. clicked that, installed it and went back to planetside only for it to be as it always has been. i rightklick on the site, get the "about macromedia 9" option but the flash fails to show.


maybe its something on my PC that makes it fail to start?

/edit: it also says "Movie not loaded" so how DO i get it loaded.

The original issue was that after installing Flash it still didn't work but I'm sure that is now fixed so no idea what is causing your little issue.

no its still not fixed.

i can view most pages that got flash but not planetside frontpage.

/edit: and thats the funny part. when i go to adobe flash i'm not getting the "flash is already installed" message so i can install it as many times as i want. but aparently it IS installed else i shouldn't be able to view ANY flash. but so far its only 2 pages that i can't view it on.

planetside and a swedish newspapers flash image viewer.

and thats using IE.

in firefox i can view the newspapers flash image viewer but still not planetside frontpage.

ok after fiddeling around alot with the cash thinking that might be it i actually managed to make it work, and its not the cash

Something is REALLY odd with that site.

I just managed to reproduce a way to get it loaded correctly. It's a completely illogical way but it has worked the last 3-4 times I tried it now, in both IE and Firefox.

Ok, first off start the browser. If you now load PlanetSide Players - Join Thousands In A Persistent Global Conflict On A Massive Scale. it will be wacky as usual. Go back to your starting page and open Station.com – PC Games. Now open a new tab and open PlanetSide Players - Join Thousands In A Persistent Global Conflict On A Massive Scale. . Voila! It works. If you close and restart the browser you're back at square one and have to load up the Station page first. That's why it worked for me briefly the other night but not the morning after. I had the Station page in another tab.

I'm just guessing here but I think that Station.com – PC Games has resources that PlanetSide Players - Join Thousands In A Persistent Global Conflict On A Massive Scale. and PlanetSide needs but doesn't provide themself.

doing this i can get PlanetSide to load up to without a problem

and last update. aparently its something to do with the language packs on the browsers or something along those lines. now i can't test this in IE without getting another OS. but switching from swedish FireFox to the UK installment fixed it. now everything works as it should.
