Necromancer - a challenge to the SC designers out there

Necro I've rolled is rapidly approaching 50 - level 41.14 with not much over 3 days /played. So, time to start thinking about SC for him.

Only useful stats that actually transfer to the pet as of 1.65 (If I'm not mistaken) are:

Int
Dex
Str
Con
Qui
Slash resist
Crush resist
Thrust resist

This necro is a stereotypical full Deathsight/20 death servant (dex buffs) spec powerleveller/farming bot. 99% staff preferred, the lower the level the better (wears out slower).

I would also like to include the Restoring the magic cloak in this SC, because it looks good. Specifically:

Gwrm-lledrith cloak
4 Power
10 Intelligence
8% crush resist
9 hp

Finally, items are to be easily farmable for a solo necro. Can't be arsed nagging guildmates into forming groups for my own vanity . Which means no: Scurceol/Ancient coin/Ancient roman necklace/Oil rag etc etc ad nauseum.

Necro can solo bracer quest easily and it's possible to solo the necklace quest (not so easy but can be done). In both cases you'll need nice buffs though.

in 1.65 this includes melee resists.

As far as I know also.
STR does not transfer to the pet.
DEX does not transfer to the pet (but does inprove your own casting time)

At the rate necros burn through staffs too - id try not to overcharge your staff, as it gets damn expensive making 99% focus gems, a dual focus staf for a guild member, materials only was over 300G

All resists transfer (both magic and melee) as of 1.65. Thats true

Str does not transfer. Also true
Dex does transfer as of 1.65. What effect it has and how vital it is to capping has yet to be accuratly shown. The same also applies to quickness. Con has shown to add 200 or so hp to the pet so well worth capping

Also with the staff .. bear in mind that focus is capped at the spec you have in it (go read the grab bag from 2-3 weeks ago). So its highly unlikely you would need 2 level 50 focus's which is where the high cost in sc'ing a duel focus staff comes from (base price of 29g for a lvl50 focus gem). If you dont need the 2nd one so high dont pay for it

Ok this is where the problems are arising. You are saying that you wont use the best jewlery in the game (look up the new Darkness Falls stats for items and perhaps use them?) and want to incorporate the epic robe. Thats 'fine' only it sucks too. +Power is as it stands useless. So that actually makes the robe +24hp, +1%crush. You can sc that into a level 15 99% robe (actually 28hp) and still have imbue points left over. Your necro will 90% of the time be out of shade. If you must wear a pretty robe to run around in keep it in the inventory and swap it out when ur not in shade form

I also tried to do a template, capping DEX/QUI/CON/INT and all resists (and DS skill) and had problems. managed to get alot of it down, but need more ideads for drops to use for the Jewelry slots, ill pickup on some of the drops listed above and have a fiddle tonight.

If anyone wants one of these templates SC'd look me up in game

Making my own atm for Tawnee, using most of the important drops like pygmy stone and ancient copper necklace. One important thing to remember is that in shade form our jewellry takes no damage so using high UV/lower quality RoG's becomes viable. I also think I am right in saying that +hits is worthless for necro even in 1.65 so that makes Oil Rag useless and maybe the some of the Lost Treasure bracers. Anyway, I will post mine when I get round to finishing it.

Having cap SC'd a 50 scout and a 50 armsman who has been through 3 different specs/setups so far, I know what I'm doing in terms of 'proper' SC
Thing is, as this character is A) Only a farming/PL char and B) will not RvR much (If at all), the only really important resists are melee. Hence, I would like to build a set that looks good but is functional for the purposes the necro will be used for. And I cba swapping items round


As for stats transferring:

So, whoever said Str doesn't transfer is correct - however, it does mean the Necro can carry more/heavier loot while cash farming

And lastly, staves. As mentioned, I would prefer a lower level staff/staves - forgot to say preferrably without o/c. The current SC set my necro uses has level 25 armour, a level 16 staff with 50 dsight focus, and caps int/dex and +dsight. Is working a treat so far, have managed 20+ levels on one staff - although the dura is now down to 40 odd percent

from the necro TL over in the USA. Stats that transfer to the pet are cap'd at the pets level, so there is no point maxing CON and QUI etc.

Pet is level 44 and the caster is 50 so try the following caps.

STR: 66
CON: 66
DEX: 66 (or 75 if you want better dex as a shade too)
QUI: 66
INT:75

All resists : 23 (unless you want 26 when out of shade)

Should save a few imbue points
