Heh, just read the article, and that's some weird shit, even for Texas. Just comes to show that southern states in America are still racist as fuck, and getting away with it.

In the US, most states, cities and districts have minor courts where most cases are decided rather than clogging up the higher courts. The thing is, the judges that sit on the courts are elected by the local townsfolk, and dont require any law training at all. On top of this, they are usually racist and sexist, and are given very little punishment when they abuse their power (As in this case).
