I've downloaded and installed Napster to sample an album before buying (from a shop, not Napster!)

When I start it, it comes up with an error message 'we had trouble configuring your windows media player', and shoves me off to customer support, who so far have not responded. You can't use the player, it shuts down when you close the error message.

Any ideas?

Oh well their customer support didn't get back to me within 12 hours, so fuck it, they lost my business.

*uninstalls*

iTunes music store has 30 second track samples (and actually works) if you're concerned about legality in the interim before buying.

Its not really a question of legality, but some *ahem* tracks are difficult to find on *ahem* other networks :)

Loving this itunes thing. Is there any way I can get it to list by album, and not every single track? So I can 'expand' an album title to reveal the tracks - that kind of thing?

I assume you mean the music library rather than music store. The answer's yes :)

You'll see in the top-right corner is a circular button that says "Browse". Click it and you'll get Genre + Artist + Album selection. You can also get this in playlists by going to Edit -> Show Browser (which is available in all parts of iTunes, the top-right icon changes depending on what you're looking at).

You can tell it not to display the genre field from iTunes preferences (Edit -> Preferences) if you find it as useless as I do ;)

cool thanks. I'm amazed at how easy it is compared to the wmp plugin msn music. search for stuff, find it, double click a track, listen to a very good quality preview in about a second, buy it, listen to the full version 30 seconds later.

fucking suplerby.

Fuck Sake

Napster are trying to charge me for using their service - even though the player never worked, and cancelling a subscription is fucking impossible to do from their site without emailing customer support.

Wankers.

Thats their phone number. After you've listened to the electronic voice for 10 minutes, you get to speak with someone. They cancelled and refunded my money immediately.

Would save a lot of trouble if they just made it easy to cancel on their website....
