Evloving from the crap name thread, I want to know where your name came from, and if it has any special meaning.


Was thinking about this as I watched people running back and forth from sauvage, with odd names wondering if they had any meaning.

Anyways, I'll start, although mine is a bit dull.

Robin Hood's name was Robin of locksley - Thus I am Loxleyhood.

Jetsetminer - manic miner was taken, and I didn't want to get renamed because I called myself jetsetwilly ( having heard things about people getting renamed for silly reasons I worried about the willy bit of my name for somereason)

Chuckieegg - Classic game, one of the first games I ever played on the BBC

Jetpack - never play him much, but another all time classic, added advantage of also abreviating to jet

Warhawk - Just made it up. Originally started the game as Warwolf and decided from there i was always gonna be War(something). Like Warmonkey in Midgard/Prydwyn

Shok - Think i read the name in a Star Wars book.

Shedao Shai - War master dudey of the Yuzhann Vong in Star Wars books (very funky alien race type lot).

Oh and everyone calls me Wark becausea guildy typed it by mistake once and it's stuck ever since then :doh: p.s I'll get you one day Mishy

Methos is the name of the oldest known immortal from the series Highlander. When i started daoc i started a fighter with the race Highlander... and in daoc you're sort of immortal... you can die, but a few secs later you're alive again...it made sense at the time...

And Jager is the dutch word for hunter/killer, which is exactly what he is/does.

Well,

I got the game for Chrimbo.

I thought a Christmassy name would be appropriate. Shamen are fairly foul beasts, with most of their moves being based around fungus and mould, so i named her after something that makes you fart at Chrimbo, tastes foul, and is kinda small and green (although she is quite a blue Kobby)

Skjulte Drage= a mate had a char called Snikjande Tiger, so I made skjulte so toghether we'd be the norwegian translation of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Daksin Ray= Name of an indian tiger god, what better for a kobie savage?

Mylar= taken on excal but the name of my mincer to be on prydwen. (Just a cool name, Mylar )

Simius Heartspark - My first ever daoc character and I just happened to be thinking of monkeys at the time I made him so for some reason, simeon -> simius. The Heartspark surname comes from an Everclear song called heartspark dollarsign, and seemed to fit pretty well for a mind/body sorc which I was at the time. The fact that I do so much crafting now, the dollarsign reference is an added bonus

Crescendo Heartspark - Fairly self explanitory for a minstrel, and I liked the surname so much I kept it.

Dolorous Delecte - Bastardised latin because I'm too lazy to work it out properly... Means taking pleasure from pain. Thought it was pretty apt for a reaver.

Other crappy names for crappy alts that noone cares about.

Culanan is a celtic name, Huggybear is not...although I'm sure there are plenty of people who got the reference, I used to be badly dyed and jivetalk to everyone

Malakim is the name of the incorruptable warrior angels from the rpg In-Nomine.

Acannon is the greek version of a celtic name found grafftied on an ancient Egyptian temple.
