Rule number one with insurance companies: NEVER, EVER, GO WITH THE RENEWAL QUOTE! We've just been through the same crap with Direct Line; whopping increase in premium, so we went off to the website, put details in again as a new customer (used a different initial for test purposes) and, ooh look, the quote is 40% less than our renewal. Rang them up, gave em a hard time, and they agreed to drop the renewal price. Then we went to More Th>n and used the quote to get a better deal :) (by 'we' I do of course mean my missus, who loves beating up sales people over the phone). Of course, we'll have to do the same thing again next year with More Th>n when they whack the quote up for no apparent reason.
