warhammer on line already got made but the publishers pulled out about 2 weeks before it was going to go to live beta because of problems with running servers and funding that sort of customer support.

The chances are mythic has bought the already finished product and will run the servers probbly hire back the peeps who worked on it.

Frankly good on mythic as warhammer is at least done on pen and paper / model system and so characters should be balanced enough :)

Well i hope not the bodgers at climax really made a mess of it with important staff leaving at bad times and investing the money gw had given them in to other projects (well that is word on the web anyhow).

I belive mythic are gonna start from scratch probaly useing the engine or a simlar engine to what they are useing in daoc & imperator and i think u are compleatly right on they cant mess up the charcter balance.

Thing is its mostly about collecting and the imersion in the warhammer world. Games workshop were churning out new overpowered goodies to keep their customers before mythic existed.

We will see i guess 8)

be good if they make the pvp system anywhere near as good as daoc. They will have alot more material to play with when it comes to pve as well :D

Though they've seen some of the previous game's concept art, Mythic will be starting entirely from scratch with this new game.

mythic will prolly introduce the same buggy code they used in Daoc :/
Daoc is the only mythic game i wil ever play, ignoring your playerbase isnt the best way to get brand loyalty

I don't have a major problem with DAoC's code, just the imbalances, if they have a good base to work from then this could be the closest thing we get to a DAoC2, with a reworking of the class system but with the same RvR capability.

Shame if they entirely ditch the work that had been done by Climax. I applied for (and didn't get) a job as a level designer on WO, since Climax have/had an office here in Nottingham, and during the interview got to wander round the offices a bit, and saw early code running on PCs...and it looked stunning. Was the first MMO I'd seen that looked strong enough visually to have a good chance to pull me away from DAOC...and then of course it got cancelled.

Be very interesting to see what comes of this.

I guess that depends on if the servers are hanging off a dodgy opentransit connection.

mythic are going to run Imperator themselves in Europe, unless they change their minds again, so they will prob run this aswell, so wont be any difference, apart from time zone and OT lag :touch:

Nice, I look forward to that! :D I'm more of a 40K fan myself, but plain ole Warhammer should be quite enjoyable as well. If they make a good implementation of RvR in WO, this could definitely be the next big step in MMORPGs after DAoC... Not that we haven't heard that before. ;)

Of course, the downside is that we will be sure to get loads of WoW fanbois whining about how WO has "stolen" so much material from the WoW universe... Yeah, right.

If it's a real GW product then every month you'll have to buy new figures and a new rule book or two every month to play :D

And Yes, I am still bitter that they turned White Dwarf into a bloody brochure for their products and stopped supporting other (mostly superior) roleplaying games...

I'm just worried that Games Workshop will not have anything to say in the making of the game. If Mythic only takes consepts and ideas from GW then we could be looking at something very -not- warhammer

Hmm, it is a bit like D&D with the rolling dice to cast spells and stuff, but the Warhammer game is just a big battlefield and you have certain units to move and you get to move so far each turn (6-12 inchs or something like that), i didn't play Warhammer much, was mainly into Warhammer 40k :p

Main differance of d&d and warhammer imo is the setting, in d&d u got a world of heros who keep the evil in check, in warhammer u got a world of desperate heros fighting a battle they cannot ultimatly win.Warhammer feels like much darker R rated world.
