Mystery Fraps Gremlins!

I know this is a tech question, but there is feck all activity and replying on the tech forum, so thought I'd ask here, before it gets moved.

Fraps trial version: download, install, works fine. No problems.

ANY full Fraps version that I install, when I run the .exe I get eggtimer, then nothing. No program runs in task manager...nothing. Have tried with and without SP2, no difference.

Any ideas/clues how I can get the full version to work?
