My sister

A few years back my younger sister married a Muslim bloke. Now due to various family problems (ie I stay well clear of all of them, bar my mum) I've never met him, nor have I seen my sister for ooo, probably more than ten years now. She converted, has two kids, and to all intents is quite happy, even though she doesn't work (which annoys me).

I am a 'friend' of hers on Facebook though, and the stuff she is coming out with is astonishing. Just now, she posted that the Chilean earthquake was foretold in her invisible sky fairy muslim prayer book, and that the end of the world is approaching.

Are there many Muslims like this, or is my sister just particularly fucking numb? I feel funny writing about her like this, but there's blood running down my chin from my biting my lip to avoid telling her on Facebook to stop being so fucking stupid and listening to invisible blokes in the sky who love you but will send you to hell if you eat a pig or something.

Bullshit. The only end of the world prediction for 2012 was the Mayan Long Count Calendar. All the other stuff that's popped up in the last couple of years is modern whack job conspiracy theory internet stuff. Seems some people aren't happy unless the end of the world is around the corner so they just keep making shit up; but there's nothing in any of the mainstream religions about 2012.

Tom, I know she's your sister, but one thing I've realised as I approach 30 and feel a bit wiser about life is that siblings and relatives just end up "being other people", people you might not see eye to eye with or even like. Actually you are wrong, the world ends when Duke Nukem Forever ships to retail. Hell will also freeze over, Jordan will become a nice person and an English rose, Emile Heskey will score 30 goals in a season and John Terry will say sorry whilst actually meaning it. Roll on 2012! Afterall, it could be 00:01, right after Dec 20.

Also i think timezones should be taken into consideration, i don't think the Mayans were in GMT.

So, a party from 1am 20th to 1pm 22nd would suffice to cover it

Checked the calendar; it's thursday -> saturday time period, so easy to set up too.

If someone tried that on me he wouldn't be a "mate" anymore. My girlfriend's godmother tries it with me all the time (because I'm English, Protestant and an atheist I'm in serious trouble ), but she's alright because she's a lovely old lady and makes me laugh while she's trying, and she's really rubbish at it; I know far about Christianity than she does, so when I demolish her I have to do it gently.
