Looks more like a modern form of torture to me.
All those fine liquors and you´re not allowed to touch them. Even worse... it´s your job to hand them out to people, who´re taking them away! The horror!
:eek6:

Olgaline, if you can make a FHOT discount I'll be sure to pay you a visit next month when I am coming to Århus anyway ;-)

And let me know if you can get some decent absinthe, seriously...

Heh,
It's one of them old palces full of tradition and such.
"aflik it's one of århus oldest stores actually"
dont think discount is in their vocabulary or comprehension.

Today I was down to have messurments taken for my coat.

as for absinth, dont think they have that but I'll ask,
and do define what you mean by "decent absinthe"

are we talking THUJONE or taste ?

if taste then depends on your preference "anis ect"
if it's THUJONE then well you'll find it very dificult to legally buy anything above 35 and most are 10. infact i think that the Eu law prohibits anything over 35mg ?

you can always seek out some of the chezck sites who have absinthes over 35mg and see if they'r willing to ship it anyway "some do"

in wich case for effect you'd want to go with Absinthe King Gold
but it still comes no where near the origional stuff they used to drink back in the day.
taht you'll have to dig up somewhere els underground

Why are you so proud?

People like you, who sell drinks to underage children, are the kind of people society could do without. You ruin lives - you should be ashamed.

Well that made no sense.

How can you derive that he sells to underage children from a picture of a shop and some harmless banter?

Move along and leave the guy alone IMO.

So? It's predictable. This kind of culture has been brewing (no pun intended) for years and it's bound to happen.

The person in question seems only to consider the 'fun' of having the job rather than the responsibility that comes with it - this raises question marks for me.

We are ofc talking about the stuff you can't legally buy in DK/EU:drink:. It is just because we used to have a place here in Aalborg, where I knew the owner and he could get some really nice absinthe from somewhere east that he would sell if one asked for it. But since the shop does not exist anymore I have no idea where to get it hehe.

So if you by any chance should "find" some nice stuff then do let me know please.

Did just check the Absinthe King Gold and I don't think that is the one I used to buy. But the reviews of the trip surely sounds like it ;-)

Haha ofc don't want to get you into troubles mate. Just if you should stumble upon a bottle or two sometime. And good luck with the job.

Btw:
Just a quick disclaimer:
I've never tried the stuff, and apparently it's "boosted" so taste might not me quiet great.

I dont reall know much about absinthe tbh,
I've tested it and I love the "ritual" but other than that, well havent done much research.

some say the thujone will get you high, some say it's the high alchohol levels and the "wish to be high
combined that leave you with the impresion of a high.

When I was in Prague a few years ago I tried the real deal for the first time and people can say what they want but I did get high... And I have tried all sorts of stuff.

It is a very strange experience and I don't think that everyone would enjoy it but I sure do.

About the taste, then it comes down to what you like really... as with most. Again I like it.

Bohemian style absinth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The “fire ritual”

Glasses of absinthe with slotted spoons and sugar cubes.Bohemian style absinth lacks many of the oils that are present in authentic absinthe; these are the oils which create the louche.[7] A modern ritual involving fire is often used, which takes this into account. In the “fire ritual,” absinth is poured into a glass, and a sugar cube on a slotted spoon is placed over the glass. The sugar cube is then soaked with absinth and is set on fire. The cube is then dropped into the absinth, setting it ablaze. Then water is poured over the flame until it goes out. Usually, a 1:1 ratio of water to absinth is used.[8] This procedure produces a minor simulation of the louche that is seen in traditional absinthe, and the low water-to-alcohol ratio increases the strength of the resulting drink. (A traditional absinthe drink is diluted with water to a ratio between 3:1 and 5:1.)

Some people claim that this is an old, traditional ritual, but there is little evidence to support this. The fire ritual first appeared in advertisements after having been seen in a Prague bar in the late 1990s.[9] It has been accepted as historical fact by many people, largely because it has been shown in several contemporary films.[10]

Most drinkers of authentic absinthe scorn the fire ritual, saying that it spoils the flavor of absinthe.[11]

here's the "authentic/origional" way

Absinthe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "ritual" (preparation)
Main article: Absinthiana

Preparing absinthe the traditional way. Note, no burning.Traditionally, absinthe is poured into a glass over which a specially designed slotted spoon is placed. A sugar cube is then deposited in the bowl of the spoon. Ice-cold water is poured or dripped over the sugar until the drink is diluted to a ratio between 3:1 and 5:1. During this process, the components that are not soluble in water, mainly those from anise, fennel, and star anise, come out of solution and cloud the drink. The resulting milky opalescence is called the louche (Fr. "opaque" or "shady", IPA [luʃ]). The addition of water is important, causing the herbs to "blossom" and bringing out many of the flavors originally overpowered by the anise.

Originally a waiter would serve a dose of absinthe, ice water in a carafe, and sugar separately, and the drinker would prepare it to their preference[6]. With increased popularity, the absinthe fountain, a large jar of ice water on a base with spigots, came into use. It allowed a number of drinks to be prepared at once, and with a hands-free drip, patrons were able to socialize while louching a glass.

Although many bars served absinthe in standard glasses, a number of glasses were specifically made for absinthe. These had a dose line, bulge, or bubble in the lower portion denoting how much absinthe should be poured in. One "dose" of absinthe is around 1 ounce (30 ml), and most glasses used this as the standard, with some drinkers using as much as 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml).

In addition to being drunk with water poured over sugar, absinthe was a common cocktail ingredient in both the United Kingdom and the United States,[7] and continues to be a popular ingredient today. One of the most famous of these is Ernest Hemingway’s "Death in the Afternoon" cocktail, a concoction he contributed to a 1935 collection of celebrity recipes. His directions are as follows: "Pour one jigger absinthe into a Champagne glass. Add iced Champagne until it attains the proper opalescent milkiness. Drink three to five of these slowly."[8]

oh and if you scroll down to effects of absinthe you can read about the
Ongoing debate as to the effects of thujone:

Personally I have no real experience to form any opinion on the matter so cant say:
and the few times I've tryed it it's been the low thujone, anis style, western euro absinthe

I normally just dip the sugar in the absinthe, set it on fire, wait for it to burn out then mix it with the absinthe and the pour a bit of ice cold water on top. Might not be the "correct" way but seems to work for me.

Guess people experience the "trip" different... And I can only share what I get from it ofc.

Also I see many people just hammer it down insted of spreading it out through the night so they can keep the effect going. Because I must admit that it is not the longest trip... maybe 20-30min.

aye ofcause :D

and i can see how hammering it down would kill off any chance of experiencing the effect as with an volume of 50%-85% alchohol ? well!
hammer that and you wont feel anything other than very drunk and numb
and surely there are cheaper ways of achiving that.

For me it was kind of a weak form of an acid trip. But very very pleasant and not hard to control it really.

The paintings on the wall started moving around and when I looked at my phone it was like transparent.

I know it sounds a bit wierd but for me it is a really nice feeling.
