My DBA went postal last night and today got escourted off the premises after looking like he was going to smash things up.....

So even more work for me.

Anyone want to emply a slightly frayed round the edges sys admin/support guru.

if it wasnt real yaruar, it would be rather amusing, but i can only imagine how much of a **** it is having to do twice hte work for 75% the wages u should be getting

I'm going to have a meeting with my bosses next month I think to come to some conclusion about money, i'm sure we can, otherwise I'm going to walk. It's a case of weighing up the fact I like working here and it's a good atmosphere most of the time and they are a relaxed management team.

On a bit of a downer this week though, the guy who has been suspended I've known for years and he got me the interview here. But he wasn't handling the pressure here at all.
I can't see him coming back which is a shame as deep down he's a nice guy, just bottles things up and explodes in bad ways

We had a guy go postal too here at work. He was in charge of a team working on a 40 million euro contract.
He has been in treatment for 3 months now and it will be a while before he can start thinking about working again...

Stress is hard to handle....

last week a guy was told he was moving to a new division and went mental and started screamin go fuck yourself and stuff

Atm its seems that I am doing my job to good, nothing crashed in a week, there is FA to do here
Well one off the AC units had a leak and lost all freon, but all i had to do was call the AC guys and tell them to get their but over here

Same here, one of the downsides of being damn good at my job is that i've got everything running smoothly which means that most of the time I have nowt to do... Maybe i should start being incompetant.

I do, in my working week i do the work of about 3 or 4 people, just that because i'm good I actually take less time than they would.

Take for example, I used to work with a guy who would regularly spend 3 or 4 hours over jobs which i could do in 20/30 minutes, and which I'd then put in place things to counter happening again.

One of the major problems is that when things go wrong i'm suddenly faced with a workload much higher than is physically possible to do. I minimise these times with forward thinking strategies, but they do happen.

Well... I think that It it would be a lot easier to get a raise if you prove that you are more productive than the average joe

Oh and a punching bag is good for stress

if he'd been taking up the other ppl's tasks for some time he should have gotten the raise by now then...


but in boss eyes they see it as a bonus that an employee does more than his share ... enthusiasm Oo

yes offcourse you cannot rely on the boss to take the initiative for your raise its not quite in his interest to do that

But doing more work than you should gives you a reason to ask for more $

the other problem is that it looks like i'm not working half the time because I can get things done so much quicker than other people.

I really should be less competant, that way i'd have even more work to do, spend more time doing it, be busy 24/7 and get a payrise!

in the end however it'll be a case of the boss weighing whether or not a payrise would be in the best interests of the business :/

he may feel you should get one but his boss training doesnt allow him to show emotion =[

well, that can be handy in some cases, like, you could ask for a day off and probbly get it where as some one he dont like that works there wont
