well

yes, the last few pc's i had been homebrew.. but pc's today cost less nowadays ,
its simply is not that mutch bullding urself or getting somone else to do it, aka these..

i did some checking aroound on hw prices and the amount i save on buying a set like these ( keep in mind that these is NOT dell,hp.ibm etc etc , but company specced pc's so almost like homegrown)

for me to taking the time to check prices on parts , place orders , the time to get parts etc etc etc ... well no gain anymore , 1-2 years ago or if u want somthing real special sure, but now no... sure i could replace cpu and mb, but thats money out the window since i then prob wanna retire my x6600gtx card etc etc etc .. and i figured it was time to retire my p4p800 2,7ghz and use it as bb comp . when i get cheap enough parts for it

imo, the rewards are still there. you can spend what you save on something else... also theres the fun of putting it together

Non..

Imo go buy yourself a Intel Core 2 Due Conroe..
Its alot better than the AMD X2 and cost about the same ( atleast in denmark ), depending on the moddel ofc :D..

then get an Asus mobo with the socket to the core 2 due and some DDR 2 Ram .. should be sweet..

Hey there,

I would definitely choose PC 1.

Mainly due to the fact that it is the new generation motherboard, which uses DDR 2 RAM, then what processor you should take is up to you.

Primary reason for saying this is that i assume you want the computer to have as long life time as possible.

When it comes to the choice of AMD vs. Intel we can write a novel about ppl's cons and pros towards one or the other company. Personally i have used AMD since 1997, but have heard some good stuff about Intel's new generation of dual core processors like Thaff wrote here.

My biggest aversion against intel has always been, "why pay more for the same stuff" just because of a brand name.

Like i wrote it is solely up to you, but between theese 2 computers i would choose no. 1 definitely.
