My fish are killing each other :<

I bough a ickle goldfish the other day to replace one that died,
the problem is it keeps headbutting the bigger fish i already have.
It basically swims to one side of the tank and does a Juggernaught style charge at the bigger fish and just repeats the process, as funny as it is to begin with the problem is the bigger ones are dying off (lost 1 this morning) because the little one wont let them sleep ><

Is this normal? :S

haha ask my bf he will tell you that when sharing a space with something that is roughly half your size it will:

Never let you sleep
Steal all your covers
Roll over at least 87 times a night
Kick, punch and talk in its sleep
Take bites of any ice cream that the bigger fish have
Take bites of any toasted cheese food item the bigger fish have
Think of something it desperately needs from the room the bigger fish has just vacated after being asked only a few moments ago "you want anything while im in here?"
Need a wee as soon as the bigger fish has gotten comfy in the bath tub.

I dont know if its normal but my sister had a budgie called Cindy and that killed my budgie called Budgie my pecking on his head till he died. Then i got Budgie2 and the bitch killed that too so Budgie3 needed his own cage. The guy from the pet store said Cindy was just antisociable so to leave her on her own, might be the same thing with your fish.

What size is the tank (in litres or gallons) and how old is the tank?

tank is about 4ft with 4 fish, i duno about the ammount of water im afraid
its pretty old as i got it 10yrs ago

6ish years, about a year or so for most the fish currently in there bar the new one i changed the filters and pumps ages ago
its the only thing thats been added really

Flush it down toilet or buy a snake and give it to the snake

no every couple of weeks i do a 50% change, its only 4 fish in a huge tank

will take a pic when i get home
i basically have the coloured rocks on the bottom, a little castle whos turret the air pump is hidden in and some plastic weed things
Problem is when the big fish go and hide it comes along and lams into them until they move off to another spot, when they sit there it repeats the process ><
i might try getting a see through bowl and making a plate with holes on the top then submerge it in the tank so it cant hit anyone but is in the same tank
see if it learns if it bashes things it will hurt

Ok then, because there might not be enough hiding places for them and the smaller new fish you have just put in might feel threatened by the larger fish and become aggresive towards them.

normally it just follows them bashing them so tey cant stand still

But the odds are one of the little bastards will be aggresive and territorial, even when the others of the same kind are quite happy.

The only solution is to remove the nasty fish or it WILL kill all the others that cannot keep out of its way.

Been keeping and breeding birds and fish all my life with my dad, theres no real explanation or way to predict which ones will be nasty, but soon as you see one getting that way, get rid of it, catch it and take it back to the store.

If the store wont take it back, well, you know what you have to do, just do it as humanely as possible.

Why would you want to do that? Its a new recent addition to the tank. There are lots of different reasons why it could be attacking, water conditions (they could be totally different from what it used to live in and therefore has not got used to the water yet). Not enough places to hide.

Do you test the water for ph, nitrites, nitrates and Ammonia?

While the new addition is getting used to the new water, you could buy a separating net, to separate it from the other fish, then release it after a week or two with the other fish and see if it is still aggresive towards them.

best way to put a fish down i have heard (if you have to ofc) is stick it in the freezer in a margarine tub of water. That's how we killed one of ours that had a disease.
