My first real rvr experience

I been thinking about this lately, and it shows me how much the game has changed, kinda upsetting really, cos what I'm about to tell ya I found alot of fun.

First attempt

Entered emain with 2 other sb's, we were all lvl 30ish and HI NIAR we was all 1sotted, he had that stay stealthed after 1shot ability so little we could do .

Second attempt

I managed to sneak through amg and left up the hill I walked toward apk, when I saw a purple con sorc, so I thought why not, totally kicked my ass lol.

Third attempt

Went to emain, where I met an old friend Kedaran, old now, new then, we sat outside apkE for about 1hour, no albs to kill so quiet. Eventualy we went back to mpk, and I'll always remember seeing 1fg of hibs outside it, looking closer, I saw they wasn't hitting the mids with them so I ran down unstealthed, and I wasn't attacked \o/. We all ran and sat outside apk again some of the hibs/mids having little duels n stuff, not killing eachother. Was mainly a spam of emotes, this was the first time I'd really seen another realm's people upclose, was pretty exciting . Anyway after about 30mins, I decided to pa a purple con caster to test my damage, then I was 1shotted my a luri LW champ . btw! Blackdeath's fault I tried that PA cos I saw him do one on one of the hibs.

My point is.. we're all so rp horny now to get our RA's that it's kinda taken the little humanity that we had in the game away.

Yeah that's all it is lately in alb in gc even "any room in emain?" soon as one logs on heh i go odins or hw myself for nice small battles,don't really bother about the rp rate there seems more fun to me fighting people 1vs1 or group vs group instead of zerg city or who has best buffbot wins

If i go hw/odins die to a full group it's not so fustrating as to being zerged loads or zerging enemies,people have different tastes and different views of things but it's a shame loads and loads of mids/albs are in emain all day long nearly.People play the game how they like obviously just hope this rvr add on we get perhaps can give more fun rvr areas or maybe rvr bgs(arenas or something)

sad but kinda true, RPs is what most ppl want today since it enhances the char and makes u more uber, the only ones i dont think really fall under this category is the majority of hibs

The saddest thing is that last night I was in an Odin's group and after having killing two seperate groups of Mids in fun fights, 30 minutes later they decided to group together and camp AMG

my first RvR experience was to run to apk then stay there with the other 4 fg mids sitting outside the pk (this was like 1 year ago tho). Never understood the joy in it

We didn't group together. We were 4 or 5 in our group and some SB told in cg that there were a fg or more at AMG, so us 4 (or 5 ) decided to do a suicide run (no healers) but the SC group said they were near AMG already so they attacked also.
Was just 'our' luck that they were there also.

Could be later in the night also tho... I logged after that battle so can be a other fight u'r talking about.

Think my first contact with "Out-realmers" was in Snowdonia, purple con trolls/drofs came and killed all poor exping albs
Then it became quite common to see mids in snow, remember when people yelled MIDS and everyone tried to run away from the 1 shooting exp killers

guards took 20 seconds to kill, and *everything* was purple to me

then a huuuge alb army arrived, and it was a cool battle, firebolts going off left right and center, my hammers raining on the albion mages, some healers, including Laga I tink, cursing Thanes every other sentence

was what got me hooked to DAoC

can't rem what lvl I was (prob sub 20 still) but was with my warden, Thing was camping ligen and my group went out for a look got 1 shotted by his spear hehe and he saluted me afterwards, was cool

I remember following Kaulso out of Ligen gates at like lvl8 once when he was lvl30 and not knowing how to get back through the doors I was scared to death until Kaulso pointed out the switch to let me back inside

5 level 25 -28 or so, exp'ing in Snowdonia.

Enki comes along, very purple, and very frightening to noobs.

He killed our wizard first, then we attacked him, mostly out of panic. we got him to 30% or something before he pummeled our last standing member into the ground.

oo hehe was back in the really early days when porting to emain at like 25 or something and coming to apk emain and the first thing you see is like 30+ albs standing there anmd then you look down at the 4-5 fg purple con mids standing down there.
then someoen yelled charge and we ran down and died... maybe if we were lucky killing one mid

and did I whine about it? nope... I went and did something else
people who didnt experienced this shouldnt be allowed to whine

think the first time I meet hibs at all was in odins at lv 36 =)
was alliance fight that Shadowblood organised... was loads of fun seeing all those hibs owning us
found a nice firby to duel out on some flank and was even until he got healed

but hell... those were the days =)

Running from Alb PK in Emain and getting chain killed by Blood and Thing at lvl 20 or so......I kinda lost interest in Emain after that - still get the wobblies when I leave the apk in Emain to this day lol

Hmm..well first one was on beta when i went to emain with my lvl 9 cleric that was fun.

On retail think it was Bleedmer retake attemp,now that was fun too I miss those days

A year ago I had reached the mature age of 22 levels and the group I was hunting with went to Yggdra to pull some beasts from the hillside by the lake. Remembered we looked around a lot between pulls all feeling nervous, someone said it is ok, high level guys dont hit grey cons. Anyway the hunting trip was great with that added sense of danger and the climax came when all of a sudden a full group of albs emerged from the lake. Targeting them nervously and gulping when discovering all were very purple. They looked at us and then.....started to run towards Vindsaul. Unfortunately our rm wanted to test his bolts so they come back and killed us all. But that is still one of the best moments in the game for me.

Those were the days...sigh

And I fully agree, the introduction of the RAs ruined rvr play a lot.

And I fully agree, the introduction of the RAs "ruined" rvr play a lot. Though I am not sure how many would have continued to play this long without something to aim at. I am just convinced that Mythic chose the first idea they came up with instead of pursuing something that would enhance the realms too.

The abiding memory i have from early RvR was,as an armsman, coming out of the apk with a guildmate and seeing a lone orange con at the bottom of the hill.
Thinking ourselves lucky to finally find a Mid that was'nt purple,we charged down the hill only to see him run away again and again.
After the 3rd or 4th time I decided to change tack and using the rain as cover ,went up the right hill amongst the trees ,then hid behind a tree and waited for my guildmate to charge again.....sure enough he ran again and out i came to start whacking him ,to which he turned round and straight into the arms of my guildmate with his polearm.Died very quickly.

That's when i first thought this game is going to rock.

I do sometimes wonder where my belief went that strategy and tactics could've been a decisive factor in RvR.

Bringing my level 28 Armsman to Nottmoor and doing the first English keeptake in EU

Was fun, think it was 3 days before the EoB event, just before the server wipe.

Thrinnor led a successful Albion keeptake against the Mids, and I hit Jarl Nottmoor for 3 damage with my gimpy 2h Sword

Then there was the massive 2 day long RvR at the Emain bowl , with fights moving from there to the APK, MMG and Crim (OMFG! SOME N00B JUST PULLED THE CC! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!11).

THAT was what made me buy the game

Ahh those were the day. My first real memory was when my first character (Undying - 2-H armsman, gimp or what!) was about lvl 30. This was back in the early days of Prydwen when Midgard reigned supreme and regulaly had all 21 keeps, and there was yet to be a single lvl 50 character in Albion. I think Phoenix Legion led a raid out to the frontier to reclaim Caer Erasleigh (I think). My guild all got our highest level characters (being levels 20-30s) and joined in. I remember being really scared at those seemingly unkillable purple-con guards, and everyone being afraid that the mids would turn up any minute. Took about an hour to bash our way in (I think the highest level person there was about 40). I remember the eleation when it finally fell.

Was hunting beetles with Reedemer at lvl 20ish in Gorge when suddenly someone /waved at us. Scared us to hell Suddenly one of us drops to the floor, one shotted by some fecking archer
We whined abit on /gu and Usp and crew came to rezz us and kill the archer

i can't remember my first PvP xp (besides my encounters with Sinister on sauvage road), but i do remember my first keep takes

The first one, i was only lvl 20+ and at that time i think nobody in albion was 50 yet.
We attacked bledmeer, it took us ages to chew through the gates and when we got through. All lvl 30- had to clear courtyard, and lvl 30+ had to hit the lord. And at that time, they were still bugged, so the lord had come out and was stuck in the wall

And when i was around lvl 25-30 and wall climbing was introduced in the patch, i remember climbing the walls together with Camillo, Artemis, Vestax, Nadiya and a muppet called Derric

Going with a bunch of Albs to Odin's back in BETA, and charging the Mids camping AMG Damn, the amount of hammers those thanes threw at us
