My Final Level 50 Hunter Spec

I thought it was time to look at my hunters final armour spec (first version below for comments) as I'll hopefully be hitting 50 soon.

I have based this on RR4L0 (currently RR2l7) which will give me +3 to my skills. I have also opted for lowering quickness by 28 when I use spear (for more damage) and putting it up by 28 when I use bow (for quicker draw timeS).

My initial approach is to build up the template based around my current fixed items (i.e. jewlery, cloak, rings, belt, wrists). After that I've concentrated on stats, followed by skills (dex, quick, con, str and hits), followed by resists (specifically thrust, crush, slash, energy and body).

Is it possible / normal to sc 99% quality items up to the overcharge amount I've used below, or I am I asking for trouble with this?

Any help / guidance with any aspects of this template would be appreciated!

I dont have the TG hunter vest, so will make a crafted torso with the stats, its always nice to be able to throw such an item into your template without changing it.

ok.. this template is actually terrible.

First.. you must cap at least stealth.

Change necklace to the SI quest necklace with 4*10 resists. Ancestral Secrets.
Get a new Cloak from a SI quest.. Trollfathers for example.
Jewel is ok.
belt is ok.
Get the Ring of Spun silk from quest.. and try getting a Band of Ice ring.
Please do the SI bracer quest and chose the stealth + spear bracer.

And you can overcharge 99% items to 33.5 points.

It's worth the time to get these items believe me.

Thanks Urme, I'll sort out the suggested items and revisit my spec. Btw with this spec I am only +2 down on my skills (and once I reach RR3, +1) so I was happy to live with that.

I take it I am on the right track in terms of the resists I have targetted?

The fact that I can take all 99% items up to 33.5 indicates that the overcharge value in the calculator is wrong, as it shows boom (-25%) when I take an item up to 32.5?

It depends on the quality of the gems... the spellcrafter should use 98-99% gems when the item will be overcharged.

I would recomend capping:

stealth, bow, spear,
dex, quick, hits, con , maybe strength

Thrust, Slash, Body, matter.

these are the most important for a hunter imo.

Just use jakobi's sc template which is VERY nice, and far from hard to make, only 'special' item is hrord's braided belt, which i guess is a bit hard to get ... don't really know tg item state on excal atm ...

Personaly I have put +6 composite bow and some quickness on the bow.
+6 spear + some strength on the spear.

It saves up points since you have less + weapon skills on armor parts and the other stats that Jakobi have on spear and bow is put in only one place instead of both spear and bow.

And I would sacrifice some of the cold, heat, spirit and cap Spear skill and strength.

Those resists are rarely used for hunters, maybe heat and cold are useful to reduce bolt damage otherwise have cap resist for pbaoe damage is pointless, if you are that close to enemy its gameover anyway and no resist in the world will change the fact that 2 nukes will kill you.
Crush resist, hmmm most fights with spear are against infils and ns none of them have access to crush weapon, and mostly healer classes have crush weapons these days, only thing to look after is to not pull a friar, but they will hand you your shoes anyway if you do :p

Very good advise, and now I've taken a closer look at Jakobi's template I agree that it's a great starting point, especially as it contains only 1 specialist (TG) item - thanks Jakobi! Guess it's time I did the ancestral quest(s)!!

The only question left unanswered is how to deal with rises in RR levels (and subsequently auto +'s to skills), I guess the only thing to do here is to upgrade my armour as and when required.

Thanks again to everyone that has contributed. I'll repost my final spec when it's sorted.

later today I can try and see if I can't make a similar template with a quest belt. Will probably require at least one more MP item.
Also not sure if I should try and cap quick with spear out, lower quick means more frontload dmg, but slower swingspeed. The way it is now was the best I could do with 3 MP's though

Not sure I understand your worries here, You can have +11 with items to +skill at lvl 50 nomatter what your rr is. That will not change.
On top of that the realm rank +skill will be added every rank automaticly without you have to change anything on your items.


Example: 50 bow + 11 from items, and +4 from rr skill at rr5 will be 65 in bow.

From what I know you dont get any benefit from having 51+ stealth, at the moment my stealth is 35+11, if it was to go to 35+16 or more (because of RR's etc) then I would potentially be wasting some points.

Probably minor in the scheme of things.

Stealth u gain nothing from going 50+ that's true, but with spear/bow u gain so go as high as possibly here (+11 from items no less) and get +11 stealth + rr = high stealth and if it ever goes over 50 then get a singleline repsec and put the new spare points into weap for more weap skill

you loose some life when changing from bow to spear. exchange the 13 con jewel with one of the hp jewels on legs or head.

as long as there is no +con on weapons that are switched during combat, it should be fine. switching it with +hp seems like an easy solution, as the imbue value should be similar and +hp doesnt have that problem.
