My experience on Camlann

Curious how I was about Camlann I decided to start it up.

Totally new to the server-rules I decided to start a caster because they're cheap to level up (no real need for armour because you dont gonna tank). And I like casters.

OK, I like casters, so I think, I make a light-chanter. Pull with pet if needed, then nuke to scraps while kiting with stun and the snare on the pet !

Marvelous! I start my chanter in Domnann Grove because I got a Hibbie, I know the area and do a /level and make a light-chanter.

Around level 14 or so I get 1 shotted by a (purple con) bonedancer.

Oh damn, PvP ofcourse. Oh great, I lost 3 constitution point and I only got 50 :/


Hey it seems I am immune, because that dude is now on /stick with me and doesnt attack.

So I say: "Sorry mate, I am new to this server, just wanna level up abit and explore and stuff, we meet again once I am abit more grown to your level, ok? "

Answer: BLA BLA BLA STFU N00B. You got no money so you cannot go anywhere and I am gonna kill you again!!

OK, this is getting serious I suppose. I notice he's actually orange-con when I dinged 20 so I might stand a chance if I kite him properly. But I rather not try, so..

Well.. Without a warning the immunity timer is gone and bam, bam 4 seconds later I am dead again.

Down to 44 constitution (yay!), kinda trapped in Domnann Grove's without money with this lunatic who sure as hell isn't gonna let me go on free will :/


Hey no problem, I just port out, end up close to Connla and I can hunt abit there to get some money and buy back constitution.

Boy what was I wrong. I port out and that dude keeps following me. So I port back in and yep.... Guess what

Smart that I am I notice he has to recast his pets every time we port so he might get caught without his pets if I play smart.

After kiting him a few times through the portal (he wasn't very smart, he casted his pets everytime during the immune timer) I noticed he couldn't cast pets anymore and sat down. Ha! This is gonna be funny, ultimitate pay back!

I port another time and quickly cast my pet. Kite time for teh win!

I wait till he's porting back in, while patiently waiting for the immunity timer to wear off. Ha, there you go down sad fucker! Without his pets I manage to kill the dude. WOW, he drops money, that's cool then I can go get my clothes in Tir Na Nog, haha...

Let's run quickly to the lootbag and... bam.. a redcon necromancer (from that dude his guild) kills me.

After about 20 mins a GENUINE TRY to enjoy it I am sorry, but this is definatly no fun.

Not only does it cost way too much money to buy back constitution (money you dont have if you are fresh to the server), iidiots who camp the spawn-spots make it pretty much impossible to enjoy your first time there unless you like pain or something.

I also tried to start in Gwothaite (with a sorc) got oneshotted each and every time by wizzies.

There was an animist in Mag Mell setting up schrooms everywhere so every newby got killed as soon as he came too close.

I guess some people like Camlann, but no wonder the population keeps dropping and dropping. It's pretty much impossible to start there now.

A few of us n00bs to Camlan have had the same problem.. In the end you lose so much con you have no choice but to reroll.

But we found a way round it

Make your char and only auto level it to 8 or 9... go and do a few quests/tasks to get some cash to port....

Port to Gothwait or Camelot before you hit 10 and finish leveling up to 20 still with a bit of cash in your pocket incase you get instaganked in the case of Gothwaite.. at least you have the money to restore your con...

Then run like buggery until you get to almost anywhere off the beaten track to level up a bit in in peace.... ;P

Albion is deserted almost we have found in comparision to Hib on Camlann... just avoid pryd keep bridge...

It's ugly, clumsy and cowardly, but hey so are the morons instaganking people repeatedly as they try to create chars...

Once you are a bit bigger than 20 you lose a lot of these people... there is also safety in numbers as these type of people only seem to pick on soloers... they aren't brave enough to pick on anyone who isn't alone and as they have no friends of their own they are unlikely to take you on if you are more than one ;P

Don't quit just yet... learn to be sneaky

A group of us n00bs are just trying to find a day and time when we can all come together... you will be more than welcome to join us if you like....

And if all else fails ... hey all ten of us will just roll boneys and gank the crap out of the gankers pfft

mmm i have better solution.. /lvl at your first trainer to lvl 5... then suicide one mobs and do /release city and here u r in tnn, camelot or jordheim =)

Tourists

We need more players like puppetmistress on camlann.

The other ppl that act like that Bd (surprised by the class btw.).. Are tourists and dont even understand the consept "noob", cos if they would they'd shut their mouth.
They're in only for the pvp, they never lvl up 40+ without powerlvl. This new patch brought in alot of new players that mostly are these tourists. They roll a char, dont work, roll another, get disapointed, go back to pryd/exc or whatever the hell their boring normal server is. At least that's how i see it.
For me Camla is the only way. I'll never go back to Exca again.

Waste of time. I realized that by the time ppl got lvl from zerging mag mell i got 2 or 3 and pretty good money hacking willows in GNA. Or something in frontier zones. Just me myself and i PvP server is a huge place, all realms, all fronts all epiczones etc. And very few ppl. And the player concentration is in small areas. Even moher in hibernia was pretty quiet. I soloed 3 lvls for my shaman there with only a few conflicts, which i could have gotten out from very easily, but i like a good 1 on 1 .

The whole pvp server thing was pretty blurry and made no sense til i stopped trying to lvl my SB, made a tank and started to PvE. Got to lvl 45 and joined a guild. There's a price at the end. No zergin in emain alot of action and good moments. Sometimes you just release-get killed-release-get killed etc. Change realm. See what mid have to offer. Very quiet there at many places. Or roll a Minstrel or a skald. They dont get caught and a pretty good in soloing too. Keep way from Hib mm and alb pryd bridge. Df is crowded, so dont go without group. You will find company at some point.


For all i know, I'd like to have players like puppetmistress on camla. Smart as you are, find a way Plz dont give up on us.

nicely said... for me Cam is like a change from the normal server.. i play infiltrator.. and i like it.. yes, it's a pk char, not pve.. but i always wanted to have infi... as im hib/mid on pryd/exc and Goa will never open 3rd english server
and one more advantage, almost no buff bots =)

I started playing Cam recently...made a few alb characters because i had no previous alb experience. I just wanted to test out some characters, so made a firewiz (zalius) and leveled him to 23 on young mammoths in Mid SI (nice cash and exp). Decided to make a saracen paladin (temseti) because i've always prefered melee chars and pallys seem pretty cool. Leveled up to 24 in keltoi, nice exp and found some plate drops plus other items.

Most people that are in dungeons are just there to exp and get loot, only met one infil that tried to kill me..tried and failed. Most of the lamers hang in the SI capitals. Usually a lot more in aegir than around gothwaite harbour. Cotswold and pryd keep bridge is always packed with lamers, so i just avoid there and let the monkeys play.

It's nice to start afresh with no gold...now have 40g and some gear just from exping . Met some cool people there too, seems theres a lot of german pkers around though lol

Off the beaten track is indeed worth a try. And I didn't know about the /release capital thing hence the problem hehe

Might reroll I suppose, and try Midgard abit, dont have any toon there anymore on another server and would like to explore Mid-SI

Then you can level 20 in peace, choose skills etc. I started albs and didnt have much problem sneaking out of camelot. Lots of space to explore and places to hide when exping.

Actually started here due to the lack of a co-op server in europe. Enjoyin it still but I guess I'll get dissapointed when I find out that gettin on high-lvl epic dungeon hunts here is probably hard.

I would love to see coop server yeah!

I like the idea better then PvP...

But you cannot make Camlann coop now.

Just how does multi grouping work on camlan

You all in say 3 or 4 groups and the SM or chanter pbaoe's and wipes out the other 3 groups ?

had that problem trying to exp in vendo someone pbaoe's next to you and u get hit .. rather a bummer.


And i had the same experience re rolled 4 or 5 times on monday before quitting because of con loss and not having the cash to get back. Even rolled a bd but got chain ganked by a hunter and savage combo

.... only so much a bd can do with rezz sick then 50 % power

I mean i can see the day when no on will be there cause the griefers are gonna run out of ppl to pick on... then I get an archer ping arrows at me and i think fair enough lt lt lt he will die .. just about on third lt when his purple con friar friend hits me dead with his staff.

It does seem like 90% of the population is german. Not matter where you are, in chat/guild/group/broad/say its german. And most of them wont step 2 steps aside to kill you

yesterday a grey mercenary uncovered my lvl40 stealther infront of req gank squad.. i was pissed but got over it.. get a paper and a pen, and put names on it your personal black list.. no matter grey or green or purple... it's pvp and poeple should be resposible for their actions.. if they whine against grey killing tell them the reason and tell to close their mouth or put to ignore list.
The point is: poeple never learn but thru this tactix u could save pvp server of some n00bs =)

I played my bonedancer on and off on cammlan once SI was released, when enchanter where everywere, and bonedancers where rare...

I hit level 32 about 6 weeks ago, last time i played, i got really fed up, no guild, i was green con to level 40+, so i got ganked alot, soloing was slow, could not get groups...

So, in the end i retired Goober, when my daoc account ran out..

And this goes on and on, and on and on.. Or they get there lvl 40+ friend on you.

Ow when two purp con ppl attack you (a real challenge it must be for them) and say they r0x0r afterwards...

New people don't stand a chance on Camlann... because here money makes the man.. you need that for con restore and armour / weapons, but since you're killed everywhere..

If your plan was to level up by pvp only I guess it's hard, but its not hard to level up on mobs and build up some cash.

Im lvl 44 infi... and u know what? if u will be fighting a same lvl stealther or any other class a bunch of grey will jump on u too to leech off xp... that's gay and im really chaining those poeple afterwards.. ( hate leechers )
And a little frustrating to die to 5-6 lvl 20ies being 44... im not a Bd dont have lifetap

Pk exping really is a good way to exp.. i've had quite alot of pking experienses actually. I stopped playing this game with dunderklumpen bout a year ago or so. But then just before the summerholiday i decided to try out SI and started a WV on Camlann. I leveled him to 17 and tried som pvp (i never got any greater problems with money and pk or so). To avoid pk go somewhere far away and dont turn your safety flag off (as i did at lvl 5 and still got no problem).. At lvl 10 you should be able to find some nice uncamped spots.. Just dont go to the usual places. Caves and such are also safe places, or at elast the lowbie caves like the Muire Tomb. Go there for levels.

Well i quickly grew tired off him and started a huntress instead. Those proved to be real fun in pvp and i pk lvled all the way from lvl 7 till lvl 18 mostly with low in sta´sh but still i got enough to make her a 415 fletcher as well for some good bows and kickass arrows ..

Nowadays i turend one of my old lvl 50s into a infi on this server, and has been pking it from the start. Its all about being careful. Though with this char i was lucky i must admit. Met htmm) the previous poster online and he helped me out alot. (big thanx to bitterend )

The real problem on camlann as i see is the Language issue. We got alot of german and french players that cant speak english even though it is the official language of the server. Many of them imo also play much like little kids. Running around pking and graykilling alot. Spamming you with messages when you kill them.

Bitterend and myself just made a new guild Somifera Inferni, and if you are a nice english speaking person that perhaps knew my old char Dunderklumpen or in someway know this game from the old days when giving was worth more than taking you are welcome to join us, It should provide you with some protection and maybe the basis of survival in camlann.

Its a fun and rewarding server and pking is actually a real fun part of it.

But dont forget that it is a pvp server. PKing is totally intentional and i think thats really what makes the server better than the others .. hope someone got a bit of information from this mess

Well, this lvl 20 rolling is a bit tricky on pvp cos the money issue. When you start lvl 1 you have some time to look around, get to know your class and maybe to get a little money too. Since lvl 1-10 is very fast, it might be a good way to go. And lvl 1-20 isnt that hard either. goes solo in a matter of week at the most.

LvL 20 with money, epic items and some crafted/dropped stuff is aloot of better than rolled lvl 20 with no money or armors. I know there's a free set available for rolled chars. Haven't heard anything positive about them.
