My counterstrike has gone all wierd...

Hi.

I have been on holiday the last 2 weeks and not played Counterstrike at all.

When I got back all my control keys had been blanked and my name changed back to 'player'...

This wasn't that much bother, although I dont know why it would have happened,

but what IS annoying is the console no longer works. When I press the key nothing happens.

I tried deleting the old shortcut and making a new one with the '-console' in the shortcut command line but it still doesn't work.

Anyone got any ideas??

I dont really want to have to completley re-install, but if I DO will it reset my WON ID as I use zkillz stats servers sometimes and I dont want my ID reset....

One last question! Before my CS went all wrong I used to habe the gun in the left hand on the screen and now it's reset. If I manage to get my console working again does anyone know the command for swapping gun hand? I forgot it, it's something like cl_lefthanded 1 but I am not sure...

Go into config and change all the settings including console toggling, controls and nickname.

I went away for a week and when I tried to play it on my return the map Train was fooked, I had to download and install it again

Right, i had this problem about a week ago..

I let a mate on Counterstrike, and when it was my Turn, all my Keys where f00ked, it was as if my Config was set back to default.. soo i had a nice big go at him, then went back to my Config which i luckily backed up a few days before

If you want your console to work add

-console

To your Target in the Shortcut Properties

OK, make sure youve got

console "1.0"
bind "`" "toggleconsole"

in ur config.

and make sure youve got

-console

in your cs target.


Reinstalling wont reset your WON ID number, assuming your re-installing from the same CD as origional.

Not 100% on this but I think

cl_righthand "0"

needs to be in config for lefthookers.

I think anyway.

No its not, willier was 100% correct the command changed in CS 1.4 to cl_righthand 1/0.

Your config.cfg has been deleted or reset, probably someone using your pc and playing CS. Once you have edited your config adn got all your commands back, right click on the file and make it "read only".

It happened again to me today, where my whole config just wiped itself :/

My Screen went Blue just after i was connectin to a server, had to do a Hard Reset, when i got back onto the server notuced my Config has defaulted again.. soo had to get it replaced again..
