It clicks loads when I pedal. Its not the cranks cos they've been replaced like 3 months ago, so am I right in thinking its the rear hub? Or the the whole rear wheel?

BMX in case u MTB tossers were wonderin, dont need no pansy suspension innit.

Yer need more axle grease in the hub, that'll stop the clicking. Tho youve probably killed the bearings by now so you need to replace them too.

nice :)

You shouldnt need a new wheel. Just take it to a shop that does maintenance and they will replace the bearings for a few quid.

or do it yaself...

tis an easy job with plenty of greese.

u can also stop the ticker thingy (one way jobby spring loaded thing)

use lots of greese on that and it stops clicking...so ya get a clickerless hub

nice

I don't get why MTBers and BMXers always get at each other. I race DH MTBs and i was comeing like 6th in the coutnry at one point. There arn't many mountains around me (well it takes like 39 secs to get down the longest tracks) so i praccy fitness on the road (sadly), and skills on dirt/bmx tracks. Whenever i go down there the BMXers are great, i don't use/own a BMX (i use hardtail for messing around) they are all friendly. I went to Nantmwar(typo) quarry which has BMX dirtjumps, a full international DH track, a duel slalom track and a (snigger) cross country course (me trys not to laugh). The folks on the dirt jumps were great. They q0wned me on the jumps but it was fucking fun.

Anyway, you might need a new bottom bracket, you can grease the spindle but if the bearings have gone the unit is sealed so there is no way you are going to replace the bearings w/o a hammer. Not sure on BMX BB prices but i got one for my bike for £56 a few months back and it is uber-l33t.

Or if it's the hub try putting some non lithuim based grease in it. You will break the seal when you open up the hub since it is semi sealed but it will close again, but you will get more crap in there.

Dunno much about BMX's but I just had a similar thing on my MTB;

I mangeded to Bend yes Bend the spindle that goes through the rear axle and in the proccess bend the frame!!

I took it back to Halfords ( It was cheep alright) and they gave me a brand new bike (the old one was still under warranty)!

Is yours still under warranty?? -If so try getting it fixed for free.

It's not a real bike until it has Tony the Tiger spoke reflectors, I'm afraid.

Could be where cranks the join the bottom bracket spindle.

I used to have a bike that did that all the time, to stop it I had to remove the cranks clean all the tapers with white spirit and replace cranks nice and tight.

Unofortunately by this time I had slightly rounded the tapers in the cranks because they were only cheap alloy, and only new ones would fix it permanently :(

Also if it turns out to be the bearings in the back hub make sure you havent damaged the cones in the hub, if they are slightly pitted they will need replacing otherwise you'll just bugger any new bearings you put in.

Personally I prefer a piece of cereal carton sellotaped to the forks so that makes a lovely farting noise while you ride along :p

Yep mine did it, I did wot you did BUT, added a bit of grease where the cranks slide onto the BB, kinda helped to seal any ickle gaps between the crank and BB plus made it easier to get the bastard cranks off when I wanna rip me BB out to clean/replace
