Thats right m8 u need to confirm it via email for it to become final, if u try to change email and u dont confirm it, it will freeze out the sub screen for 12hrs i think. Once u confirm via email it becomes final and changes in a few minutes. Much better system imo.

Report it via RightNow if you haven't already. We do investigate, we do punish people who do this sort of thing (usually with a permaban) and we can restore characters and, where possible items.
In cases where you've shared your account details we are a bit more limited as you've essentailly given that person permission to do whatever they like with your characters. We even put a warning in last weeks Friday News about it.

In response to the person who asked why we send a confirmation email to the old email address when you change your email in the subs page, it's a security measure. Someone needs to know your subs login, subs pass and have access to your registered email inbox to gain control of your account rather than just needing a loginand password.

I read somewhere that the majority of hackings come via people hacking into someones email account and thus getting the persons subs pass/login. So this new measure wont be all that effective against those sort of hackings no? Will only be useful against hackings that occur through people sharing account details wont it? Mind you, still better than nothing. GoA should chop peoples hands off that are caught hacking accounts. That would be a better deterrant (sp)

Although this is true, I have the problem that my e-mail adddress is no longer working so I really hope that changing your email adress isnt confirmed by sending a message to your old email adress otherwise I'm screwed....heh

to hack an account someone would have to field a tracking cookie of some sort on a certain web page.
A key logger to obtain my key strokes after the exe file from DAOC has been launched, that information would have to be send to an irc server or some other type of information collecting server...

do you think a programmer..; gamer can be arse to do this efford just to logg in an account once and delete it??

there are bigger challenges out there to hack..

according to rumours.. hotmail accounts seem easely hacked.. i really doubt that. Same drill here.. a keylogger would be needed and an information collecter to get you hoatmail password...
I know that some ppl trust their programs and save their passwords on their pc's (cached or cookies). First thing i was taught when i started using internet is ... don't save crucial information on your pc in any form.
so don't mark the selector to save your pass for when you logg in next time...
