Longish story please bear with me:
1. Graphics card (Ti4400) in new computer packed in.
2. Put card (Mx440) from old machine in new machine. Worked fine.
3. Got replacement card for new machine. Worked fine.
4. Put Mx440 back in old machine again - goes through boot sequence, displays Win98 screen then Black screen, monitor powers down.
5. Put really old card (TNT2 Ultra) back in old machine - worked fine.
6. Put Mx440 back in new machine works fine !
New machine has MSI KT3 Ultra mobo, WinXP.
Old machine mobo is MSI 6167 (carries an Athlon 500). Running Win98SE.
Tried booting into safe mode and adding the card but on re-boot same result.
Tried Safe and Optimal mobo settings to no effect.
All cards are AGP. Could it be anything to do with AGP 4x vs AGP 2x ?
Any ideas gratefully appreciated.
