When you buy a Volkswagen, any new car, you pay for those adverts the cost of advertising, R&D, distribution, manufacturing, the tea lady, executive perks, those trendy little glasses the designer wears, etc, etc, etc.
Just thought I'd mention it.

I remember reading a report somewhere about the marketing cost per car sold across all the manufacturers; in some cases it was seriously high percentage of the cost of the car; I think at the time Fiat were the worst.

*edit* found an update - VW spent around £420 per car sold in the UK in 2010, Fiat spent around £540. Not as big a gap as I remembered.
