They claimed it, but most of the analysts have said it is more likely to be al queda linked because of the scale and planning involved.

Aparently the hostage situation at one of the hotels is now over, some injuries but no deaths. Of the hostages some were Brits/Yanks.

Been on phone most of the morning as I have 6 guys there at the moment. Not staying at the Taj or the Oberoi though, All at the airport Intercon. Police are requesting everyone stay in their hotels and not to travel outside.

Some of them periodically change their names to confuse the security agencies monitoring them so could be an existing one.

I imagine Pakistan are involved - not the main government but could be elements of the government or the army who dont like the progress towards a better relationship with India.

Otherwise I'd suspect Al-qaeda operating from Pakistan - if you see the footage the terrorists are just kids - probably straight out of indoctrination in one of the 'schools' near the Afghan border.

These attacks are in a different league to previous ones in terms of the number of terrorists (up to 12 teams) and their attempts in some of the attacks to target brits/americans as a priority.

Thanks for asking, I didn't express myself very well. For once in his life he's in the U.K. thank goodness.

I was in Mumbai in June for work. Stayed in a 5-star hotel in the northern part of the city.

At the time I was wondering why security was so tight. Our car was searched all over when we entered and X-Ray machines for all bags. Obviously they must have always been expecting something to happen but I must admit to not being worried at all by it then - more worried about how much poverty I would see.

Our offices were all closed today and staff told to stay home. Not sure about tomorrow.

We, as most companies do, have a total ban on travelling to India and I do wonder what extra measures will be bought in place in the future as the Mumbai team are an integral part of our UK team and we were meant to visit the team regularly.

No, no at all. All the hotels attacked were 5 star hotels because that is where foreigners stay. My point was that security was ultra-tight in these places. I was fearing the worse when it all broke out as immediately checked for the hotel name.

Fortunately, they the attacks were in the southern area whereas our offices are in the north.
