A format M$ made to try and defeat MP3 from being illegal. They released it so that you could only play the file a few times. I heard that the file was cracked 2hrs after release.

.

Aye, I'm a 'd/l the mp3' and buy the CD bloke myself. Although tbh, vinyl is (imho) better than tapes it has a nice, um ..., earthy(?) feel ...

Audiophiles will tell you that Vinyl has the best sound if you get an average record player. All this is crap in my case as my computer makes a fair amount of noise as do cars outside and airplanes in the sky ;)

yup

being a trance/ proggy person myself, i love vinyl, its very treble happy, and bass happy too

overall its just happy

:)

MP3 is ok if you have the sound set right, and its encoded at at least 192kbps

mp3 is generally better than wma to set that straight. You think www.wma.com is such a huge hit?

As for other formats... CD is what I buy the most. Vinyl does have a nicer, warmer sound; but decks arent portable, records get damaged easily, and 12" tunes tend to be in lesser supply than the aforementioned CDs :/

Most of those probs can be solved by taping 12inchers off the radio anyway :)

Do you have any evidence to support such a claim? They're even at 128k but WMA is better at lower rates this has been proven in testing.

How popular something is doesn't make it better, this was proven by VHS vs Betamax(later version).

Um, the quality/compression may be better, but the truth is mp3 is far more widely accepted and versatile, and is likely to get far more publicity/downloads than any wma file. I mean, it replaced 'sex' as the #1 searched-for item!

Never said it wasn't but you seem to imply that MP3 was better quality wise etc and I just had to put that right :p

I doubt its replace SEX as the #1 searched item :)

TBH I reckon MS have done a fairly good job on WM8 and have intergrated WMA well with a MP3 encoder due for sale at launch.

I got about 50 house, trance, garage tracks on vinyl for when I brought my decks.

I never brought the decks cause all my money went on new records.

:/
